Mount Vernon Cotton Factory

The Mount Vernon Cotton Factory is a large, four story brick factory building in Al-Dekheila. It was originally built in 1856, and suffered a number of misfortunes over its lifetime, including fires, strange murders, and the collapse of the Egyptian economy, yet somehow still opens its doors each day for hundreds of workers. Someone working here can expect to make between 15 and 17 dollars each month- a barely liveable wage.
