In the year 3452, Queen Imolia the Second created an honorarium for tradespeople. The purpose was to feature skilled tradepersons in such a way that they would be given opportunities to achieve success commenserate to that skill.

Each year, a single tradesperson from each of two dozen categories of trades is chosen for sponsorship. This award is both an honor and a boone, as they recieve a Queen's Seal and a Queen's Purse.

The Sponsorship is often enough to propel a tradesperson into a much more well-known position. Most who recieve the honor can leverage this into a reputation for quality that follows them for the rest of their lives.

Requirements

Quality in their trade is the only requirement. Even simple materials and tools can win a sponsorship if the skill is there. Additionally, the Guilds are required by law to provide quality tools and materials to any who wish to make a sample for the Sponsorship.

Appointment

Sponsership submissions are evaluated anonymously by the trade guild, then a sample of the goods of the finalists are sent to the Queen. They are to be unmarked in any way that would give away the identity of the maker, though some argue that style and design is as good as a maker's mark.

Since there is no drawback to submission, most tradespeople submit a sample every year.

Benefits

Queen's Seal - a unique stamp that can be used to mark goods. The size and material of the stamp varies based on the material of the products made. The tradesperson can use the seal in selling their goods for the next five years. After that, the mark becomes meaningless.

Queen's Purse - a financial reward, equal to the current average annual income of a successful tradesperson in the same trade.
