Arvin goes behind Jack's back and recruits Sydney for SD-6.
Up to this point, Jack probably maintained a certain fondness for Arvin, and was at least partly in SD-6 to try to mitigate his culpability and eventually bring him around. Once Sydney was dragged into the situation, Jack nursed a deep grudge against Arvin.
