Noctisylvans

A mysterious and enigmatic race, who live in the subterranean world, but many have gone above ground. They possess distinct features that set them apart from other races. Their skin is an elegant shade of deep gray, ranging from slate to charcoal, which helps them blend seamlessly into the shadowy recesses of their underground homes. Their eyes are large and luminous, usually possessing a striking hue of vibrant violet or smoky silver, capable of piercing through even the darkest of caverns. They have lithe and graceful forms, with a natural agility honed by generations of navigating the intricate tunnels and passages that make up their subterranean realm.   Society is structured around their expertise in alchemy, which they consider both a science and an art form. Dwelling within labyrinthine cities carved from the heart of the earth, they have built an intricate network of underground tunnels that connect their various settlements. These cities are adorned with bioluminescent flora, giving them an otherworldly and ethereal appearance. Each city is ruled by a council of the most skilled alchemists, known as the Alkresh, who possess both political and magical authority.     Their most renowned skill is their mastery of alchemy. Their artistry in potion-making, metallurgy, and arcane experimentation is unparalleled. They have discovered ways to harness the geothermal energy and rare minerals abundant in the depths of the earth to fuel their alchemical creations. Their potions range from healing elixirs to poisons, and they've developed ingenious concoctions that grant temporary enhancements to their physical abilities, allowing them to navigate their subterranean realm with unparalleled speed and grace.   Alchemical artifacts, such as luminescent crystals that can light up the darkest tunnels or invisibility cloaks woven from the threads of shadow itself, are highly sought after by other races who occasionally venture into their realm. They guard these secrets closely, as they understand the power such knowledge can wield.   Dark Mysticism: They have a deep connection to the darker aspects of magic, often referred to as “dark mysticism.” This is not to be confused with malevolence; rather, it reflects their ability to tap into the hidden energies and emotions that dwell within the depths of the earth. Through dark mysticism, they can manipulate shadows, communicate through whispers carried by the earth itself, and even create illusions that baffle the minds of intruders.   Relations with Other Races: They are generally cautious and reserved when it comes to interactions with other races. They view outsiders with a mix of curiosity and suspicion, aware of the potential threats that could arise from revealing their alchemical knowledge. However, they do engage in trade and diplomatic exchanges with select surface races, often in exchange for rare materials or information that can further their alchemical pursuits.   Amidst the annals of history, their rapport with Humanity stands as a testament to the complexities of interplay, a chronicle marred by the echoes of a tumultuous past. Within these narratives, certain humans keep the Noctisylvans in the shackles of enslavement, a grim reminder of days long gone. As the currents of time flowed on, an intricate tapestry of strained interactions began to unfurl, woven with threads of tension and mistrust that have since lingered. This intricate dance of emotions, rooted in the shadows of servitude, continues to shape the intricate contours of their relationship.   Their society is not without its internal challenges. Power struggles, secret alliances, and complex intrigues among the Alkresh occasionally threaten to disrupt their harmonious way of life. Disputes over the discovery of new alchemical formulas or access to precious resources can escalate into shadowy conflicts that remain hidden from the eyes of outsiders.
