The Arch-Mage of the Mountain
"Perfect Spell was granted archangelship by the various gods he worshipped upon his death. He chose to live atop the summit of the Mother’s Mountain and he swore to protect the mother while she is trapped within her prison. He determined that he will stand guard and protect the Mother in the best way he could, so he built an entire arcane fortress around the Tree of Life. With potentially many millennia ahead of him, he started by mastering his powers as a Solar and growing his own personal powers, finishing the journey he originally set out upon. Once he had reached full potential Spell started crafting plans for the fortress." --- Arch-Mage of the North Tower
History
The Garden of Life
Directly surrounding the the tree is a wonderous garden containing an incredible variety of mystical plants. Peaceful and exotic animals inhabit the garden and water of the garden. All the mystical plants and animals inside this garden are species that are extinct or near extinct in the outside world. The centerpiece of the garden is the Tree of Life, it sits atop the bare mountain peak and is surrounding by a pond of holy water.
The Protective Sphere
The first portion of the fortress that was constructed as a powerful sphere protecting the gardens around the Tree of Life. The protective sphere itself is the most well defended portion of the keep, as this sphere is the last line of defense between the outside world and the tree of life.
The sphere itself is a perfect dome that encircles the tree and reaches deep down into the mountain. The dome has two holes in it. One hole is found deep within the mountaintop, where the Tree of Life’s roots extend beyond the dome. The other hole is sealed with a defensive vault door that is only opened on the command of Perfect Spell or by passing the Trials of the Tree.
The dome’s physical structure is constructed of clear magically hardened adamantine 10ft thick (this means each 5ft square has 4800 hitpoints and has Hardness 33). The adamantine is clear in order to have natural sunlight pass through the dome in order to sustain the Tree of Life. The physical dome was the first construction atop the Mother’s Mountain, the creation of the physical dome involved the spells Wall of Stone, Polymorph Any Object, and Wish.
The physical adamantine dome is then protected by not one, but two permanent and invisible prismatic walls. One prismatic wall is on the outer edge of the sphere and the other prismatic wall is on the inner edge of the sphere. These walls are invisible in order to allow light to pass through. Only when you approach these walls (within 10ft) do they reveal themselves to be incredibly deadly spells. Both Prismatic Walls were originally created by Spell and each have been heavily modified using his incantatrix abilities. The walls themselves were constructed of many permanent Prismatic Walls and each section of wall of modified with Improved Heighten Spell.
The vault door is constructed in a similar manner as the rest of the sphere. This means both sides of the door are covered in a high level prismatic wall and the door itself is made of adamantine, this adamantine is not clear. The locking mechanism is fully enveloped within the adamantine. (located 1ft away from the interior surface, forcing would-be attackers to punch through 9ft thick of extra hard adamantine before arriving at the mechanisms)
In order to unlock the door you must speak the primal word for Open while also pressing Perfect Spell’s left hand or the Vault Key against the door’s pedestal. The Vault Key is a disc composed of concentric rings. Once the vault key is placed into the vault, the concentric rings spin and turn independently as each dissolves into pure light as the vault door is opened. Doing so will slowly open the door over the course of 1 minute, this also forcibly teleports Perfect Spell into the center of the dome in order to defend the tree if it needs defending; or to greet the new guests.
The Trials of the Tree:
The Trials of the Tree were created by Spell in order to ensure that any travellers to the Mother’s Peak are pure of heart and pose no threat to the mother. It is a test of will, power, and goodness. Tests change for each group who perform them, this ensures that no travellers can figure a way to “trick” or “cheat” the tests. These tests range in difficulty from trivial challenges to nearly-insurmountable tasks. Though even the hardest of tests are capable of being solved by the participants.
The lower levels of the fortress are filled with these tests, and the participants of the tests are always given the option to simply leave. These test rooms are filled with incredible iconography of the Mother’s good deeds, the Mother’s imprisonment, the history of the world, and tales of mighty good triumphing over evil.
As the participants complete the tests they will receive rewards ranging from gold to magic items/scrolls to wish-granted boons. Additionally, after every test the participants are granted another piece of Vault Key, which can be assembled and used to open the Vault Door.
Fortress Proper:
After the Trials of the Tree, the participants are free to roam the Fortress Proper. The Fortress Proper contains large feast rooms, grand halls filled with magical portraits of heros, libraries of duplicates of historic and religious texts, and halls of scrying mirrors.
The only creatures within the Fortress Proper are mindless constructs that maintain and expand the facility. These constructs prepare food, clean the halls, paint portraits of heroes as they are discovered, and document historic and religious texts.
Information from the outside world is obtained through the scrying hall by almost sentient constructs. These constructs receive and review the knowledge and transfer it to the relevant documentation constructs. .
In the core of the Fortress Proper, there are two large doors that directly oppose each other. One door is the Vault Door and the other door is a door to Spell’s Mage Tower.
Spell’s Mage Tower:
A strictly off-limits area of fortress. Only the most prestigious of mages are allowed to tour parts of the Mage Tower. The Mage Tower contains an observatory, a ritual chamber, a practice arena, a meditation area, a study room, and all the other classical components of a wizard tower.
The Eye of Good:
The eye of good is the latest addition to Mother’s Fortress. The Eye of Good is an offensive weapon of massive destruction. The weapon itself takes months to charge from the sunlight in the realm. The weapon fires a beam of concentrated positive energy and directed sunlight in a straight line to any location within the line of sight of the eye. Since the eye is atop the tallest mountain in the world, this means it can hit any position in the world with a massive holy laser. This holy laser is almost always used to disrupt the Ice Liches operations, though it has the capability to be used as supporting artillery against any evil that dwells in the surface of the world.
