Sutos the Just (SOO-tohs)
Sutos began his life as a scholar and philosopher before being recruited by the Kingdom of Eluria as a military commander. He served with distinction in the Mordebi Rebellion, defending the capital city of Khal against the rebel army. Later, having become friend to the ailing King Severus, he was selected as heir to the throne. He was crowned on 38 Harvestsong, 384 3A.
King Sutos embarked on an ambitious plan of expansion; however, rather than conquering the people in the lands he chose, he personally negotiated treaties and constitutions to provide equitable trade, defense, and proffering the benefits of mutual cooperation.
On the settlement and founding of the city of Blackport on the newly-named Elurian continent, the nobles of the realm re-coronated Sutos as the first Emperor. He had a passion for philosophy, and throughout his life Sutos wrote several books on method. On the Method of Conducting Reason, On the Method of Perfect Form, and On the Method of Enlightenment comprise the central volumes of the Irorian Philosophy. Each volume examines an aspect of human existence and seeks to offer a means of improving it.
Inspired by his vision and ambition, the art and architectural styles of the early Empire are referred to as Irorian. While he never directly addressed the matter of religion or its practice, Sutos was associated with the god Irori and received his apotheosis as such. He thus became the founder of the Church of the Seven Emperors.
