GoS Session 21: The Vampire Queen Report

General Summary

Saintsday 4th Redfall 619PR   Last we left our heroes they where on the Red Princess , a ship bound for the town of Saltmarsh. They were embroiled in an investigation to discern who had freed a powerful entity from an ancient stone flask. Realising that no one was safe from the creature, Captain Samera ordered everyone to sleep on deck.   During the evening William Woodsbury, found himself troubled by a dream. In this dream, he found himself in an ancient palace. He walked through an ancient pillared hall, noting the dust and cobwebs hanging between columns. As he arrived in the centre of the hall, he noted a beautiful woman sat on a throne upon a dais. She smiled at him and welcomed him to her palace.   She explained that her name was Hani'ata, a queen who had been imprisoned in the stone vessel which William had collected. Hani'ata offered William power and tutelage if he would broker a peace agreement with the ship. All Hani'ata wished to do was leave the boat. William promised to help her. Hani'ata explained that she wished William to row her ashore after dark.   When he awoke, William explained to Theseus, Shiloh and the captain of his dream. He was confident that he had encountered the entity behind the strange deaths on the ship. Armed with this information, they created a plan. They would offer this Hani'ata the opportunity to leave the Red Princess, and while her guard was down, they would seek to destroy her.   Theseus reached out with his magic and communicated with Keledek, asking the wizard what he knew of Hani'ata. Keledek was not happy to be disturbed, especially with questions about something he considered mythic. Keledek's answer was curt and to the point. Telling Theseus that they should not contact him again.

William decided to speak to his spellbook, enquiring if it knew anything about Hani'ata. Unfortunately, the book was not aware of anything that didn't pertain to spells.   As night approached, the party prepared as well as they could. Eventually, William called out to Hani'ata, and she responded. It seemed that the being had been observing for a while, albeit invisibly. As she stepped on the boat, the part struck.   The ensuing combat was challenging, Hani'ata proved to be a powerful foe, charming William, and killing several sailors. Throughout the battle, it became clear that she was a vampire. Theseus caused a cust of wind to push her overboard, where the water seemed to act like acid, blistering, and burning her skin. Hani'ata almost dropped Shiloh and William, before she was eventually destroyed in the water.
