The Order of the Venators

The Order of the Venators was created as a result of the Alonian Civil War. Founded in 513 PR, the organisation's mission was to protect the duchies from heretics and heretical material. Heretical material, being that which espouses or references a deity other than the five. The Venators launched the main attack into the former Duchy of Gredas, playing an important role in destroying the family and followers of Duke Xenthros.    Throughout it's 106-year history the order has received accolades, more recently however it is viewed with infamoy, fear and suspicion. In 573 PR the Dukes of Mercia, Vichi and Saanthas decreed that the organisation had no jurisdiction in their dutchies, formally banning the organisation from operating in, or holding land within those realms.

Public Agenda

The Order of the Venators seeks to discover and destroy heretics, forbidden texts, and threats to the legitimacy of the five gods. Over the years, the order has become more militant and often operated without oversight. This has led to the order being viewed with fear and scepticism.    The Order now works in the Duchy of Alonia, parts of the Duchy of Belar and the Blasted Lands (formally the Duchy of Gredas).

Assets

The Order of the Venator maintains several strongholds. One is located in the City of Alonia, and the others are of the boarders of the Blasted Land.

The Iron Citadel

The Iron Citadel sits on an island on the western side of the City of Alonia. It is the Orders headquarters, and hold the Forbidden Archives. The Iron Citadel is viewed with suspicion and wariness by those who live close to it. Parents will often keep their children in line, by threatening to 'call the Gold Cloaks'. Very few individuals know what exactly is located in the Citadel, or in the deep catacombs below. Rumours speak of prison cells, guarded treasure, torture chambers, and a vast library of goods.

Ethics

The destruction of Heretics outweighs the destruction of the innocent. For the rot must be stopped.    Fiends are the agents of deceivers, and there is no cost too great to destroy them.    Those who protect apostles or heretics are to be judged as the same as those they protect.    All iconography or artefacts promoting the worship of false gods should be destroyed, or if unable to be destroyed should be archived permanently.
