Chaos Magic

Manifestation

Chaos magic is very hard to spot, but a person who knows what they are looking for will always recognize it. Chaos magic manifests itself in subtle ways making it hard to know if a location is affected. A magic-user like a wizard or sorcerer might feel a tingle or a sense of alertness when entering a place affected. There are also other signs like floating particles, dust or stones, small fragments in the planes making energy from other planes seep through or discolorations of natural resources.

Localization

Chaos magic often dwells in places that have experienced heavy surges of magic in a short time span. Events like the new calamity and the times of troubles are the most common events to have created these permanent aberrations in the weave called chaos magic zones. Some of the biggest chaos magic zones in the known world are the plains of havoc, Shurwell, and the red abyss. Other smaller areas have been found, but they tend to die out and only last for a short time. There are also some wizards who have sworn to created temporary chaos zones of their own, but there has never been a documented situation of a wizard created chaos zone.
