Druunheim

Demographics

Druunheim is mostly inhabited by Duergar with about 70% of the population made up by them. Duergar has always made the city their home since long before the four ages. The city has also become home to many who has either fled from the underdark or people who has nowhere else to go or seek a place to not be judged because of their race or other aspects of their lives. The only races who are not welcome are dwarves and gambions, but even those races might be allowed to walk through the city or restock on supplies if they are in need as the people of Druunheim are cold, but not heartless. Tieflings both cold and normal, orcs, orogs, and deep gnomes are relatively common in Druunheim.

Government

The city is ruled and run by Malvirik Gravelkein who comes from the Gravelkein family. His family saved the city when the Crawling Consumer attacked after the New Calamity and introduced the duergar of the city to their god Dvursktar. The family became like monarchy within the city and would become kings and queens of the city. Their rule is very light when it comes to oversight and regulations of the citizens. They hold the Druun Guards supplied and in good health so that they can hold the people safe. They have little direct rulings over the people and new rules or laws are rarely introduced or changed. The family also keeps tax quite low as their goals are not to become rich, but rather the expand and keep order. Because of all of this the family is incredibly liked among the people and there has never been any big complaints or demonstrations against them.

Defences

Druunheim is a very defendable and durable city. It has giant walls that stretch around the entire city. It has two main gates which are made from dark iron and incredibly powerful and heavy. Ballistas and sentry posts are common sights around the city as well. The Stalagmite which is the royal palace also has a seperate set of walls to keep it safe with one main gate. The Stalagmite also has enough room to keep most of the population safe in case of any invasion or siege the city might suffer. Additionally, the Stalagmite is entirely made up by the rare and very sturdy Druun metal making it nearly impossible to even damage.

Industry & Trade

Druunheim do not export or import much from other settlements or cities as the people above do not trade with them and there are no cities below them anymore. Because of this they must be fully self sustaining and get everything they need themselves. Food is not a problem as they produce and farm mushrooms, soft roots and keep big amounts of Rothé around. They also hunt many of the creatures and monsters who roams around in the territory. Alchohol is also brewed from mushrooms or dry grain which they grow plenty off. Druunheim does not ony produce food, but their mining also yields wast amounts of ore and metal, including the very rare and precious Druun metal which makes up the Stalagmite which the royal family lives within. The city also grows Valktell mushrooms which grows extremly big and quite fast, this mushroom is mostly gorwn to be used as homes when they are fully grown or to be harvested as building material.

Infrastructure

The city has many farms within and outside of its walls where different types of crops and animals are being farmed and held as livestock. The city also has a giant forge area where the blast furnaces of the city are located to harvest the metal from the ores they mine.

Guilds and Factions

The biggest guild in Druunheim are the Scavangers. It is a group co-owned by Kruckoi Bludger and Theldrak Rustedge. The guild is quite large with almost 100 members, their main objective is to travel to the bottom of Nevae Scennel also nicknammed "The Dump" to gather items, creatures and junk which has been thrown down or fallen down into their territory. They are quite effective and good at finding valuables, in some cases they are even hired as personal investigators or to find lost items. In addition to their scavanging, the guild has also become good at fighting monsters and helps keep Druunheim safe from threats.

Tourism

The city is probably the only underdark city with some form of tourism. Because of the people and their history, some people willingly travel and make the dangerous journey to Druunheim to experience its history and meet the people of the city. The city itself does little to entertain this idea and have not done anything to make tourism easier or more pleasant, but the extra trade and exotic items they might bring has made them more willing to accept these people.

Architecture

The city is very old and because of this does not have one unique architecture, but rather one which is made up by many styles and races. The Stalagmite itself is a massive natural made structure of Druunmetal which was hollowed out and shaped into a beautiful palace. It is unlike anything else within the underdark and is believed to be infused with Netherflum. It is also the first sign of an construction and civilization within Druunheim and is believed to have been carved by the drow more than 10 000 years ago. There are a few other buildings which are believed to have been built by the drow, but there are only a few left in the city. The cave wall within the city is also mined out to make many houses on top of eachother with over five stories of homes at some places. This structure or mining is the second sign of any civilization as this is believe to have been the home of the first Duergar who lived in the city. The rest of the city is made from either stone building or Valktell mushroom houses, with a few odd buildings mixed in.
