Purple Plague
Transmission & Vectors
The purple plague is transmitted through blood often by a purple plagued carrier often called a purple zombie or the plagued. The transmission is often instantaneous after a victim has been either bitten or clawed by such a creature and the attack spilled blood. The plagued must not be "alive" for the plague to be transmitted, if a part of such creature or its fluids enters another creature the plague will be transmitted.
Causes
The main cause of the purple plague is the purple night which is a natural factor that happens every other year and darkens the sky in purple magic. While the purple night is active any unshielded or unburried corpses have a chance of being reanimated by the purple plague. These plagued are carries of the plague and can transmit it without even killing creatures. Since the purple night of A4 648 the Stonefields have become a very active and persistant area for the plague as the dragon Condrenth The Stone Guard was reanimated by the plague and started spreading it as he himself remained intelligent and can in some way or another control both the plague and the plagued.
Symptoms
Symptoms of the purple plague are few before the "turning". If a creature is infected and not killed outright it will slowly be taken over by it over the next few days depending on how physically strong the creature is. Over these days the creature will be taken over by the plague and purple and black spots will grow from the infected area. Some people have had pains or experience weak to strong muscle deficiency.
Treatment
There are few to none treatments for the purple plague, if a person has just been infected they can be saved if the limb or area is amputated within a few hours of the infection. If the infection can not be cut off in time there are few ways of curing a person as only very powerful healing magic may stop it. The plague will also take over any person who goes unconscious so making sure they do not fall unconscious is a good way to make sure they can live a few extra days or hours.
Affected Groups
There are few groups of people who are immune to the purple plague as it is a supernatural disease, but creature who has a magical immunity to diseases will be immune to the purple plague aswell. This has made the Order paladins a great way to deal with smaller hordes of the plagued as their training and magical abilities have given them an immunity to such diseases.
Hosts & Carriers
All creatures that has been exposed to the purple plague has been turned or infected, there are no cases of creatures that has shown any immunity. Only undeads and constructs seems to be unaffected,
Prevention
There are few preventions to the plague itself, so the best way to prevent catching the purple plague is staying inside on the purple night, making sure all bodies are either burned or burried and not playing hero when faced with the living plagued.
Epidemiology
The purple plague is speculated to become an overwhelming force of corruption if a big enough outbreak were to take place. If not contained or predicted such an outbreak will not only threaten the local area but also a much wider continental threat.
