Shurwell Trolls

Basic Information

Anatomy

Shurwell trolls resembles the standard troll of Aloth in many ways. Their body type and shape are very close and most of their physical traits are the same. The shurwell troll stands a bit taller as they do not hunch much at all. Their arms do however drag along the ground as shurwell trolls have longer arms with black long claws at the end. The trolls also has a thinner body with less growths on their body. Even though the shurwell trolls are thinner and seem to possess less muscles than other trolls this should only be seen as a deception as they are physically stronger than their common troll cousin. This comes from their more compacted muscles gained from being on Shurwell.

Genetics and Reproduction

Shurwell trolls reproduce rather slowly in comparison to other trolls. Shurwell trolls can only give birth to one child at a time, because no matter how many eggs the female troll produces the fetuses will eat eachother and mold into one troll. Because of this, if more fetuses are created in the womb the first fetus to develop its regeneration will absorb its siblings and be born bigger and stronger. The average gestation period for trolls are 320 days.

Growth Rate & Stages

Shurwell trolls devlop their senses early after being born. Most trolls can walk by the end of their first week, and by their first month they can run and climb. At the end of their first year the trolls go through an extremely painful and chaotic phase known as the "jumping phase". The jumping phase is the trolls equivilant of growing pains as their teleportation abilities are being devloped both physically and mentally. During this phase the trolls will double their size and gain the ability to teleport. The ability to teleport does not come from just a magical organ or magic ability, but a mixture of both. The trolls learns how to use their magic and teleport, but their connection to this magic comes from what they eat. The shurwell trolls must hunt for blink dogs, boggles, meenlocks and other feys on Shurwell to consume their dimensional magic so that they can use it for themself. It is usual for the parents of the young troll to hunt for these creatures so that they can train their abilities in safe places. But when the troll turns 6 they are considered powerful enough to hunt for themself. And by the age of 10 the trolls are considered fully matured and often leave their parents to hunt and live for themselves.   Shurwell trolls do not experience old age before their last decade as their regeneration abilities stop working and their bodies quickly become old and fragile. Trolls that start to lose their regeneration ability knows they only have a decade or less before old age catches up with them or they suffer too much damage that they can not heal from. Many trolls who feel the pressure of old age become relentless with fear and become mindless beasts who only desires one food, troll flesh. The flesh of younger trolls can keep a dying troll alive for decades so long as it continues to feed upon the flesh of its fellow trolls and drinks their blood. Most trolls who goes down this path often die to their first target as they have become weakened and are at a disadvantage.

Ecology and Habitats

The only place Shurwell trolls can be found is on the magical island of Shurwell. The enviroment is perfect for the vicious trolls as they can hunt big game and find the creatures they need to use their telportation. The trolls are nomadic and only stays in one place when raising their young, it is extremely rare to find shurwell trolls that have made lairs or settled in a cave.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Shurwell trolls are full carnivores, only eating raw and fresh meat from recently killed creatures. The trolls favorite meal are hag's flesh, not because of the taste of the old and slimey meat but because the power given to them by consuming such a meal. Eating one hag gives the troll enough power to use their teleportation abilities for a whole year, instead of the normal weeks or months gained from eating other creatures on the island.

These small groups are alway lead by a female as they are bigger and stronger, the rest of the group are made up by males who continuously compete to impress her to be the one that gets to mate with her. If a group of trolls encounter another group bloodshed is always the result. The two groups will fight a brutal and bloody battle until one of the groups are in literal pices. It is then common for the winning team to spread their body parts far from eachother so that they can not put themselves back together and must sit in pieces for up to a week while they regrow their bodies from the biggest remaning part.

Domestication

Shurwell trolls are extremely hard to tame, even harder than common trolls. They must be taken from their parents before they go through their jumping phase and thereon taken good care of and helped through their jumping phase by the person who wishes to tame them. If kept safe, fed and cared for during these hard months the troll might bond to their new master. If a troll bonds to a master it will become extremely loyal and a fierce ally for life.

Gender Ideals

In shurwell troll society females are always the leaders. Female trolls are stronger, bigger and often smarter than male trolls and will make good use of their dominance to build a small escort of loyal male trolls to help her hunt, feed and protect her.

Relationship Ideals

Female trolls only feel the urges to mate every 25 years. This and that around 90% of born trolls are men, makes their numbers very limited. The two trolls then find a cave or makes a lair where they have one child together that they raise until it is 10 years old and it goes on to find its own group. The parents often leaves to find a new group, and the competition for the females attention begin all a new. But in some extremely rare circumstances the parents stay together in their lair and mates for life. This only happens when the male troll is equal in strength, size and intelligence as the woman which is very rare and almost unheard of.
