Islon

A far away frontier settlement in the north called Islon - this is where a 54 meter (in diameter) meteorite is located. A settlement is placed near the meteorite to investigate and take specimens of the big rock to make experiments with, in hopes of getting more knowledge about the early days of Domus and also the creation of Alpha Centauri A. The area around Islon is barren and there isn't much to collect and make supplies from. To make sure Islon doesn't run dry of materials, supplies from Primis is regularly gets sent to Islon.   Islon is essentially a small outpost and is only occupied by a few scientist and curious explorers. Visitors come from time to time, but most often only 20 people are to be seen at the settlement. The area around Islon is quite cold and mountains surround them from all four sides. This makes some phenomenal clouds that get trapped over Islon, which then makes the temperature drop.

Assignments

At first, they went through all that trouble to build the settlement after they located the meteorite. Islons purpose was to take samples from the rock and investigate it thoroughly. The second thing to investigate is the earth underneath. Drilling began, to get underground samples. Now, after they had been at Islon for a while, the beautiful weather phenomenon began showing; meteorologists got very excited and curious, so now the settlement has a new department, that investigates the weather. The phenomenon has been named golden skies.

Golden skies

When big amounts of clouds get trapped in the valley where Islon is located, something strange happens. Clouds turn golden, and particles in the air are mixed with gold. Tests show, that it’s not just some trick of the eyes, there is gold in the clouds - you know, the real gold element.

Unpredictable weather

Conditions around Islon makes the weather extremely unpredictable. Weather systems forming over the sea just north from Islon can change very abruptly. A weather warning system has been implemented, to make sure everyone is safe when the weather turns rather violent.
