Malagran Ceremonial Jar

This jar was a ceremonial item used for the worship of the god Amiar in the Malagran temple at Amiar’s Nest.   It was primarily used as an oil lamp representative of Amiar’s spirit, the burning passion of love and hate represented by the capricious flame. In times of famine it would be filled with water from the ocean to alert the god of their troubles and to pray for abundance so that the wick may be lit once more. It was attended to primarily by Amiar’s clergy, who ensured that it remained burning bright in peaceful times.   It depicts an Eagle's head in respect of Amiar and is adorned on the other three sides with images of pomegranites, the national fruit and namesake of Malagra, as well as a reminder of mortality.
