The Walktopus

After the fall of the Saenian homeland, many myths cropped up. One of the most prevalent amongst the people, however, is the story of the Walktopus. Sailors believed that the Walktopus was a beacon of hope when encountered at sea. It is said that sailors encountered an octopus with one eye shining brightly and the other a swirl of oceanic magic swimming alongside saenian ships. The Walktopus uses his bright eye to lead the way home for saenian sailors and is a beacon of home throughout the culture.
The story began with one sailor reporting this majestic beast's glowing eye staring up at him from below the surface of the water before a great storm. The sailor claimed that following the Walktopus through the storm led back to the homeland's location where the sailor had lost his telescope to the sea. Upon his return, the sailor found the telescope covered in what appeared to be a new attachment that allowed the sailor to illuminate his path.
While it is contested as to whether or not the Walktopus is real, many Saenians choose to depict the beast on their skin in the form of a tattoo. Octopuses are believed to be incredibly intelligent creatures of the sea and, when tattooed in a saenian cultural tattoo, are said to represent natural intelligence and leadership.
