General Summary

Int. The Whimpering Hammer - Night
As others begin going to their rooms to bed for the night. Abendlied learned from the Bugbear innkeeper that the Warlord Zynn is the current ruler of the area. The Bugbear has never heard of a Lord Jefferies or Lady McFey. She went to the bar and noticed Gabbro. Gabbro was two fingers deep in a tankard of ale. In a direct fashion, she walks up to Gabbro.  

Abendlied

Stab me!!!
  Without hesitation, he stabs her in the shoulder. The Bugbear innkeeper places a spiked mace onto the counter. Expecting more to happen. Gabbro gives the Bugbear a quick glare and goes back to his tankard.  

Abendlied

Damn it? I lose fluid. Damn it!!!

(Slices her forearm)
Damn it!!!

Gabbro

You should wrap up your wounds. You are bleeding everywhere.

Int. The Whimpering Hammer, Room - Night

Abendlied stays up all night reading the book that Diego Ironforge gave to her.  

Int. The Whimpering Hammer, Bar Room - Day, Morning

The group has gathered in the bar room. Egart has begun double fisting his breakfast and drinking some kobold pale ale. A high pitch buzzing sound followed by a bright bluish light. Multiple energy silhouettes appear. All to be a different color of the rainbow. The silhouettes are of Mystery Owl. Mystery Owl takes several running steps before stopping. She openly vomits onto the floor. Still feels dizzy from the experience. She grabs Egart tankard. Takes a big swig. Satisfied that the taste of vomit is rinsed out of her mouth. She sits across from Egart.  

Mystery Owl

(Catching her breath)
Oh, boy. I was almost a dragon lunch.

Egart

(In Between bites of food)
I have never seen you come out of that place running and vomiting.

Abendlied

(In a disinterested voice)
Is this a normal thing?
Mystery Owl and Egart begin explaining this magical curse. A curse that she received at a wizards tower in Marperro. Some Kind of accident in the tower. There is a subtle tone change in the voice of Egart. A tone of some guilt. Mystery Owl comforts him. Mentioning that it wasn’t his fault. They explain that since this accident. Mystery Owl has been traveling to a type of ethereal realm. A realm of swirling bluish fog with an occasional bobble showing up. The realm has been relatively dormant and dull. Until being startled by the entrance of a stocky stone looking dwarf at Lord Jefferies and Lady McFey mansion. She explained. About being immediately exposed to a brand new environment. She was in an ethereal bird cage. The same dimensions as the dining hall. Haunting ghostly figures coming in and out of the room. There were also five more defined figures. She couldn’t make out any discerning features. Except for the body types and height. Mentioning that one of these figures was about the same proportions as Abendlied. She mentions seeing somebody stab the silhouette of Lord Jefferies. Followed by a chaotic light show. She also mentions the battle of giant winged creatures and their deaths. As well as seeing chained shadows. Before she knew it. She touched a rune and whisked away to a dead sulfuric landscape. Was almost eaten by a dragon before being violently transported back to Egart. Egart acts as an anchor to the material plane. (DM: I’ll leave it up to Amber to allow me to post everything that had happened.)  

Ext.The Whimpering Hammer, Marperro - Morning

The group asked a few questions to random town folks. They were able to get the location of the caravan. Coming to several unusual looking containers and vehicles. The group made contact with Johnny Lancer. A green-eye gnome with Kippah hat, a chin beard and spider tattoo on his face below his right eye. Wearing a sleeveless wife-beater shirt, suspenders, buccaneer boots, steel bracers and holster full of wands. After a few insults from the gnome. And insults thrown back from Abendlied. In the form of a poetic lymeric. Johnny asked for their names and what they can do to help protect the caravan. Bob explained that he can drive one of those strange vehicles over there. A gnomish vehicle known as an Emo. A bipedal mechanical bird, but without a head and neck, vehicle. Humoring Bob, Johnny let him try. Bob did try, but not very successfully. He ended up being launched from the vehicle and into the wet dirt. Johnny mentions that these vehicles consume the magic from magical items. Johnny mentions that they will be stopping at Curvadelrio before heading to the tri-town area. It will also be a ten-day journey. If things go well.

(Pointing at Abendlied) Look here boys. It appears that Lord Jefferies and Lady McFey sent us a daft one here.  

Abendlied

(Stares at the gnome) There once was a gnome named Johnny Lancer Whose face reminds me of cancer   Names his shit for birds   And sure enjoys words   But if asked, won’t give you an answer     His favorite animals are spiders   And dear fuck, he sure hates outsiders   He’ll call us all slags   His little truck lags   No wonder he’s lacking for riders

Ext. Road to Curvadelrio Day One - Day

Egart, Mystery Owl, Freya and Bob take watch over the day trip. Abendlied not used to this experience of needing rest. Passes out. The dwarf Gabbro is not used to the sunlight. He also falls asleep. During this leg of the trip. Mystery Owl notices a large creature flying in the distance. But she was unable to identify the creature.  

Ext. Road to Curvadelrio Day One - Night

Stopping for the night. Not used to this form, Abendlied rolls off top of the Dung. Falling flat on her chest and stomach. The Quani Tink pears over the side and laughs aloud. Egart and Mystery Owl patrols the area. Finding nothing of interest. Abendlied, Gabbro and Ordon Cogwinder(Gnome guard) take watch. Abendlied tunes her viol. Begins playing a dual viol using some type of magical spell. The first watch goes off without an issue. The second watch. Abendlied notices a weird silhouette near the road. A tall lanky shadow with a squarish head. She tosses over a rock. But misses. She cast a spell. No reaction. She grabs Gabbro. They walk up to the silhouette and it is only a signpost. A signpost with something crossed out on it. They return back to camp. Gabbro takes the last watch. Nothing occurs. Gabbro spits on the ground and curses the rising sun.  

Ext. Road to Curvadelrio Day Two, Campsite - Day

Abendlied grabs a barely awake Freya. Drags her to the signpost to identify the crossed-out letters. Freya thinks it was a town called Cornilla. She heard that this town was burned down by a tribe of gnolls a few years ago. Freya informed the others to keep an eye out for gnoll activities. Abendlied spots a hare in the grass. Egart passes a good berry to Freya and Abendlied as they return to camp. Abendlied smears the good berry on a freshly skinned dead hare with drying blood coming out of its ears.  

Ext. Road to Curvadelrio Day Two - Day

After an hour or two on the road. Mystery Owl catches a glimpse of an object on the road. As it gets closer. It appears to be a beast of burden. There are other beasts of burden lying dead in the tall grass.  

Egart

(Staring out w/ longbow)
Keep your wits. This might be an ambush.

Freya

(Leaps off the dung)
I’m going to check this out. I would like to figure out what killed this creature on the road.
Gabbro and Bob accompany Freya to the body. Gabbro taking a defensive position. Bob scouting the area. At first glance, it looks to be a stamped. That crossed the road. Freya inspecting the body. She finds acidic marks all over the underside. Marks that appear to be in the process of eating this beast. Freya notices a puncture wound in the neck. The wound does not look to be done by a creature. More like a weapon. She also notices a dip in the ground. That part of the road is rougher and concave than the rest.   Soon after inspecting the beast. The ground rumbles. Popping through the ground. An orangish tan insect creature comes forth. It looks like an overgrown pray mantis. Drops of acid come from its mouth. Burning the dead beast. Two more sprouts from the ground. As one sprouts from the ground, it gashes Gabbro. Lifting him off the ground, but was unable to hold him.  

Gabbro

(Grimacing in pain)
Ah!!! Finally, a good fight. I’ll hit you good.
The gnomes begin running towards the Emos. Except for one, he notices that Gabbro is in trouble with the one he of the creatures. He launches a few bolts from his crossbow. Finding a weak spot in the creatures armor. Bob also assists Gabbro. Leaving Freya in single combat with the initial beast. Freya, not seeing any assistance coming her way. Runs from the creature. The beast misses her as she moves to a more defensible position. Gabbro managed to finish the creature with a single hit.  

Egart

(Recognizes the creatures)
These things are known as Ankhegs. They are known to spray acid. Watch Out!
  Abendlied runs off to help her friend Freya. Mystery Owl and Egart hail arrows onto the Ankhegs. Various smoke clouds rise from the back of the caravan. It was an ambush. Bandit riders can be seen coming closer. Egart fires an arrow at one of their horses.

We have some company back here. We need to get the road clear!

Abendlied

I have something that could do the trick.
The farthest Ankheg sprays a gnome and the Rhino, the vehicle pulling the caravan, with acid.

Gnome

(Grits his teeth in pain)
Ouch!!!
As the gnome runs for cover. Another line of acid spray comes from the initial Ankheg. Freya, shielding Bob, is doused with acid. Thanks to Freya's action, Bob didn’t suffer from the acid as bad. Gabbro attempts to smash his hammer into the Ankheg. The armor was too tough for his strike. Mystery Owl lifts Abendlied off the ground. Dashes off the vehicle to position her in an advantage position and lets her go. Abendlied bounces her feet in a rhythmic motion and a thunderous roar irrupts. The dead beast is pushed aside. Nearly tripping Gabbro up and pushed back the other Ankheg. But the thunderous roar has caught the attention of other feeding Ankhegs in the area.

Johnny Lancer

(Starts putting the vehicle in gear)
The way is clear. Everybody needs to get on board.
Gabbro kills the initial Ankheg. Making sure its body doesn’t land on the road. They all begin running towards the Rhino. About five feet away from the Rhino. Abendlied is grappled by one of the nearby Ankhegs. Hoisting her in the air and clenched in its jaws. Freya is looking to free her new comrade. She casts a spell and attempts to transfer her spell by touch. She stretches and slips. Nearly falling onto Bob in the process. Abendlied whispers in a foreign language. Killing the Ankheg and being released from its grasp. The Rhino moves forward. Egert notices that Freya is about to get left behind. He unspools his 50ft rope.  

Egart

(Toss the end of the rope to Mystery Owl)
Here hold this. BANZAI!!!

Mystery Owl

???
Egart leaps off the dung. Mystery Owl holding onto the rope falls flat on her face. Unprepared for the sudden weight of Egart. Egart duck and rolls onto the ground. Grasping Freya around the waste. Freya looks down and holds onto the slack rope. Gabbro noticed Mystery Owl lost her grip of the rope. He sprints over to Mystery Owl. Grabs the loose rope and jumps off the other end of the Dung. Freya and Egart fling up, but the sudden shift of weight causes Egart to lose his grip. Falling onto the ground as Freya is rising up. Lucky for Egart. Quani Tink, a gnome guard, grabs and pulls Egart onto his Emo. The bandits ride off as more Ankhegs enter the area and as the Rhino gains speed.

Wearing dark brown, almost black, leather armor with spiked studs on the shoulders and a neck guard. An ornamental short blade on his side a light crossbow slung over his back.   Dorfiz Bezelhand - Caravan Guard   Appearance: A brown-eyed gnome with a pointy Kippah hat. He has a weathered-looking face. Covered with chestnut brown facial hair is a fu Manchu and eyebrow piercings. Wearing dark brown, almost black, leather armor with spiked studs on the shoulders and a neck guard. An ornamental short blade on his side a light crossbow slung over his back.

Notes

The Failed Ambush A female Tiefling leading a group of bandits. They attempted to assault the caravan. Using the Ankhegs as a distraction. They were surprise about the efficiency by the guards.   Cornilla A town that was burn down by Gnolls.
