The Size of the Infinite

Introduction

Here is a catalog of my research on the Ethereal Plane.   The plane between planes is a crystal mirror of illusions. Journeying there will mist defy your senses. The realm is odorless and colorless. Everything there appears ghostly, with a bit of fog rolling off of it. Furniture, walls, or any item is nearly untouchable here. Running your hand through things has the same feeling as running your hand in a still pool, just without the wetness. These are some of the examples that fascinated me about the Ethereal Plane.   The Ethereal Plane is an in-between realm. The landscape resembles the real world almost every way, except for the lack of color, weather, and mass. At first glance, it appears that all tangible items in the real world are releasing some form of gas off of their surface. That is not the case. Investigating these objects shows that the things are radiating an echo image from their body. These after images appear to be mist at the initial glance. It is just these echos can only travel a certain distance away from their source. The larger the object, the further away these echo images travel.   Objects from the material plane have a faint translucent appearance to them. That appearance comes from the crystallization of the item. There is a theory that the crystallization of the object is the cause of the echo image phenomenon. Magic is the only thing that can interact with these crystal objects. Only certain types of spells will be able to interact with the material plane. Spells like a magic missile or witchbolt are spells that do a kind of damage that can interact with both planes.   Living creatures follow the same principle as the non-living. Their features look like translucent crystallized beings. The size of a person radiants a certain amount of echo images. Living creatures appear to be a little bit brighter than non-living objects. The fascinating part of looking at living creatures in the ethereal plane is that the echo images create a zoetrope. That each image left behind holds a quick moment of a pose of that movement.

Catalog of Items

The author continues to write the metric of items and the number of echo images they radiate.
