Dune Pig
Dune pigs (sometimes also called Dune squirrels) are small rodents which live in the sand dunes. They are often eaten as a delicacy and their fur used for clothes and other leatherwork.
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
The Dune pigs live solely in the area of The Old Sea. They bury themselves in the sand dunes and move with them... or sometimes even move them. Bigger the dune, the bigger the herd of the dune pigs underneath it.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The Dune pigs are easiest to spot when someone sees a moving dune without any wind blowing to that direction. The Dune pigs need to be on the move constantly to be able to find food, like small insects and plants the dune they inhabit covers. They dine in the shelter of the dune and then move onwards, living in huge colonies.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Do not see well and rarely come out of the sand. They rely on their expert hearing and sense of smell.
Origin/Ancestry
Originally lived elsewhere, but probably found the area of the Old Sea habitable and beneficial after it had dried, and during the years they found themselves a very distinct ecological niche.
