Rothé
These shaggy-furred bovines resembling muskoxen are no less dangerous than anything else in The Underdark. They are often ill-tempered and can easily core unsuspecting people with their sharp horns and tramble them over with sharp hooves. The wild rothés are more skittish and tend to avoid people and settlements. They can be dangerous too, if provoked. They act very territorial and protective of their heard, especially if the herd has any young calves.
Basic Information
Anatomy
These underdark cows do resemble their surface cousins. The wild ones are smaller, but the domesticated ones which are bred for meat and milk are bigger and have less shaggy furr and often bigger horns.
Ecology and Habitats
The Rothé survive in the Underdark surprisingly well, eating moss, lichen, and mushrooms.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The rothés can communicate through magical means, by using magical balls of light they summon, very alike to the dancing lights spell.
