Session 11: Alliances and planning for future Report

General Summary

Session 11 continued right where the previous one left off: Matron Lothafae Aleantlarar and Sindra Myth (who was disguised as his male alter ego Szinolin) continued their discussion about odd coindicences when it came to the deaths in the city in recent years. "The first time is usually just bad luck", said Lothafae and continued: "The second time, surely, just coincidence, but the third time there is a high change of correlation." She was sure that there was something wrong with the city and the untimely - or rather well-timed- deaths of certain matrons of the city. She did give a rough list to Sindra Myth of the occasions she had pinpointed, when the matron had risen to the power when they were very young:     of course, Lothafae herself was only 133 years old when her mother Usstanza Aleantlarar died, and her mother died a year before Sindra's. It was also possible that The Matriarch T'risscyrl Noqu'undar was also one of the affected, as she had been young, but her mother Lyssrimm Noqu'undar had already died in year 344, so about 79 years before the rest, so she wasn't so sure about that. Lothafae was quite positive that not every one of the deaths were orchestrated; in The Underdark there are many ways to die unexpectedly, but all these current matrons had lost their mothers young, and if there are 15 noble families in The Matron Council of Zilvraena Noqu'yl, and 9 of them had a younger matron in charge, it would easily cause instability among the families and in the hierarchy of the city. Any major shifts in power of the city had not happened: all these families with younger matrons still stood and some were even stronger than before, which raised yet another questions:
  • Who is/are behind this? Some deaths are most likely 'normal', but how to weed out the false positives?
  • Motive: why would they do something like this, what would they gain from this? Is it about power, is it personal or completely something else?
Lothafae admitted that she was only sure about the assassination of her mother and previous matron Usstanza Aleantlarar and the deaths of her brother Velraen Arabsek'viir and her father Tazralas Aleantlarar had now made her suspicious, as all of the three had died rather closely together, less than 20 years apart. It could be a coincidence and she didn't want her feelings to cloud her judgement, but now she felt there was something odd about this. She talked with Sindra about certain ways one can use to hide poisons with a mineral substance, but which is more often than not more work, and the one using such things have to be very skilled with poisons to get it right. She wasn't sure if that was the case, but something was revealed to the house assassins of the House Myth: her father had brought Lothafae an item, a goblet Sindra's mother used to drink from, and she had found it rather interesting after doing some experiments. She had not necessarily found traces of poison, but something was strange with it, so it was entirely possible that Sindra's mother Ilareth Myth had been assassinated, too.
