The Introduction to The World of Altaros

It is said that in the beginning, the land had already been there for aeons, abandoned and bare. Then, first came the Dragons; the intelligent and proud scaly creatures who helped to make the world suit their tastes. Later, followed the feykind; The elves from Feywild and other fey creatures. Dwarves arrived shortly after, as well as gnomes, and other long-living races. Lastly, the humans just appeared from somewhere and elves just suddenly found out their ancestral lands had been taken over by these pesky little creatures.
People lived in relative peace, until The Turbulence happened and the whole world fell into chaos when natural flow of magic, the structure of weave and its sources, had been shaken and disrupted. A tear had opened into the fabric of the universe, so suddenly, but it had been patched up by unknown powerful forces: Some think it was a divine intervention, but more skeptical ones think it was just random fluctuations of magic. Yet, useless nonetheless: The world will fall, and perhaps this time for the last time. The Gods rarely listen and never answer, as maybe they have already abandoned the doomed world. Maybe it is truly the last Theomachy, War of Gods, and the eternal wheel will finally stop moving.   In year 676, Time After Turbulence, begin the adventures of the heroes of Altaros. Seemingly unconnected, their stories begin to unravel around the world. Will they live their lives blissfully unaware of the current situation, or do they have to carry the burden of knowledge and risk their lives to try to save the world they are living in?
Altaros began as a few very basic baselines for my very first DnD 5th edition campaign for couple of friends in around 2015. I had virtually nothing ready and didn't think much about it, because we were just trying out the new rpg system and we didn't know for sure if we would like it or not. I didn't want to put too much effort on something that would end up abandoned. First, there was a city of Erdun: Your typical fantasy city, on the coast, in the typical fantasy country of Valonia. Slowly, as we decided to continue the campaign after the first couple of games, it was time for some proper worldbuilding. This is how Altaros became to exist.
