The Seekers of Wisdom
It is common knowledge that wild magic is a byproduct of the chaotic nature of the Weave, and many know that this chaotic magic can coalesce into enigmatic forms such as the cores of large skylands, the void matter released by portals, and the mysticized crystals of power. The Seekers of Wisdom share the belief that if one is truly enlightened, they would gain the ability to harness and even tame the chaotic nature of these powerful nodes of wild magic, and with this power, they can reshape the Alterra into a better world.
History
This relatively infantile cult started after a former apothecary claimed to have found enlightenment while stranded on a deserted skyland using nothing but his sheer force of will to manipulate his environment to keep him alive and nourished. He took on the moniker The Wise Old One (despite only being a young adult at the time, claiming his enlightenment gave him experience beyond years) and traveled the world in search of communities of wild magic fearing denizens. He settled into a variety of these communities before teaching these people that magic was not something to be blindly feared, but an abberant aspect of nature that should be controlled. Although many ignored him for being either too controversial in some communities, or too basic in more advanced ones, he still caught the attention of the youth of communities who shunned magical practices. The Wise Old One and a select few of followers traveled throughout most of the continents in search of small communities to slowly but steadily spread their influence and search for sources of powerful magic. Most recent reports indicate they faced conflict with several mages guilds in Estrata after claims of kidnapping. The Wise Old One went missing shortly after news of these claims spread throughout territories, but members of The Seekers of Wisdom still follow his teachings. Although there are no official reports of his travels to Amerinth, there have been indications that there are Seekers in the continents as of 1738 AB.
