Gearforged

During the obsidian war and the reclamation wars, the great foundries of Calantor started to produce a new type of soldier - a mechanical one. These clockwork automatons were more versatile and capable of agency to a far greater degree than the clunky and mindless golems of old. It was later uncovered that the sentience of these gearforged came from the souls of fallen human soldiers, trapped inside the automatons during the creation, with no recollection of their former selves. Many gearforged returned from the frontlines and have since tried to settle in among the other people of Calantor
