Tempestari

In the days of the Tavarian Empire, the great bronze wyrms known as the Guardians took human warriors in their service and gifted them strange powers over the weather and the lower draconic beasts of the land. These servants of the Guardians became known as the Tempestari, with order serving each of the wyrms. The Tempestari were heralds and enforcers, serving the Empires will in the human vassal states surrounding it.

The Ridemark

Among the gifts the Guardians bestowed upon the Tempestari, the Ridemark was the most famous. This arcane tattoo allowed a Tempestari to bond with one of the different types of wyvern that were once common around Demana and use them as mounts.

The Stormhearts

When the Pale Lords of Cinvar lead their nightmare hordes down from the highlands, the Guardians and their loyal Tempestari rose to meet them. It is said that the Pale Lords used their darkest art to conjure a black sorcerous storm, the like of which the world has never seen. The storm brought the Guardians from the sky to be broken upon the ground. Even in death however, the guardians would not abandon their Tempestari. Vestiges of the dragon spirits, merged with black storm. These vestiges were bound in relics known as Stormhearts and were carried away from the ruins of the Empire by surviving Temespetari.

Tempestari Today

Now, almost a millenia since the fall of the Empire, the order of the Tempestari remains scattered over Demana. Some of the orders are tightly knit serving as mercenary companies, while others are more loosely affiliated groups of adventurers only returning to their strongholds to pay respect to their Stormhearts.
