Farlands

The Farlands is the wild region to the east of the Snowcap Mountains dividing it from Safe Haven. Its a wild and dangerous part of the world where many dangers lurk and wild magic roam free. Signs of The Calamity are rampart and ruins of ancient civilizations pre The Great Retreat are abundant.   The area has few spots of known civilizations with some being controlled by the people of Safe Haven and some being controlled by others, homes to all kinds of different species and races.

History

Historically the now Farlands where filled with flourishing civilization. Powerful clans of dwarves, human port cities and elven ancient settlements to name a few called these firtile lands their home. That was until the day of The Great Retreat and the utter destruction that was The Calamity. The natives to the land fled over the mountains and those that fled to the west eventually formed whats now called Safe Haven and what would be latter to be known as year 0 in the calendar, pre The Great Retreat and post The Great Retreat is how the people of Safe Haven track and view their timeline.   During the millennia since things have calmed down in the region and over the years the people and specially the reagents of Safe Haven has started to expand back into the Farlands. Different people and races have different reasons to venturing into the Farlands. Safe Haven has formed special military divisions for the organized task at hand. Over the year the more noble causes by reagents to take back the area and in a sense the nations history has over the years evolved to a way of handling problematic citizens within Safe Haven. If you disobey the laws of Safe Haven you can choose as your punishment to be banished into the Farlands, a place where life is very difficult if your not born there or a member of the different organizations that operate there. Thus people are in a way forced to join what is called The Voluntary Forces , thus historically making something what was truly voluntary to be more a must if you wish to survive this harsh landscape.   Through the years Safe Haven has been able to establish two major settlements in the Farlands, Silvera & Frontera with the former being the closest to Safe Haven and the latter being deeper into the region of the Farlands. Silvera is also the bigger of the two with a stable connection to the mainland with the Frontera more being the front and has turned into a sort of hub for adventures souls, people working for the The Voluntary Forces and their different divisions and a riffraff of different ruffians and lawbreakers.   Over the years the region has developed there own nobility, culture and intecrete systems apart from the mainland or rather Safe Haven also known as "Paradisa" by the inhabitants of the the farlands.
