Masked Magicka

A new form of Magic developed post-Protection Act. Masked Magicka involves a caster placing their power and abilities into masks they build and enchant themselves, these masks, when worn, allow the user to channel even more power into their spellcasting.   Currently, the most wanted Aist Mages are those who practise masked magicka due to how difficult the new magic is for an inquisitor to smell out and festivals involving patterned masks have mostly been banned out of fear of giving a dangerous mage a space in which to blend in.   There are very few practitioners of Masked Magic and none truly know the origins of the spellcasting school though their abilities have been compared to that of a molotov as opposed to the balanced candles that most of wizard spellcrafting is. Masked Mages can cast powerful spells at speed and can be a devastating foe. But their abilities and arcane energy can burn out at speed if not managed and a Masked Mage that exhausts themselves can become powerless quickly.   This means many masked mages are extremely selective over apprentices as they only seek those that not only demonstrate magical talents but also are aware of their own abilities and power.   There are rumours and knowledge of the following Masked Mages in the world:
  • A Hobgoblin within Mount Naggrom who is yet to accept an apprentice despite heavy pressure on them to do so.
  • The Spectre, a mysterious figure who is rumoured to have unknown knowledge in his home.
  • Lyren Killian and Olond Tanathriel
  • The final two both reside in Freyfrost, a Wood Elf and a Goliath. The Goliath is currently undergoing the process of teaching Queen Frey Masked Magic.
A mage's masks are a deeply personal thing to them, and often reflect the personality of the mage incredibly well. However, beware, for many mages see a mask as part of them and find it near impossible to exist without a mask to protect them from all environments and people.
