The Biography of the Scribe; the most mysterious of the Dread King's lieutenants

A dark and leather bound book that hums with magic; very well-maintained and with gold gilded edges, the book is written on fine parchment in a claret red ink giving it a haunting look. The book is the only one of it's kind and worth a lot of gold as a result it notably has not got any magic around it maintaining it and seems to have just been exceptionally lucky to be so well preserved.   A key excerpt from the text: The Scribe's origin is almost entirely unknown, many researchers have found this frustrating as it gives the impression that the quietest and most unpredictable of the Dread King's lieutenants simply appeared one day; ready to kill and serve. However, this writer relishes the mythic nature of the Scribe who, many argue, perhaps never existed at all and is simply a way to attribute the dread king's arcane intellect to an outside force. I feel it does a service to the Scribe that they chose to hide their influence and not engage so actively with the world as it further helps a researcher to understand the love, commitment and fervour-like passion the Scribe had for their king.
There are a few facts that we can layer out though, facts I have illustrated with why I believe these are relevant and important:
  • The Scribe is a unique brand of mage known as a 'lich': They invented this brand of magic in order to find their secret to immortality and, it is worth, noting, the phylactery and core of their soul was bonded directly into the Dread King's crown... allowing the Scribe to always communicate with the King.
  • The Scribe is widely credited with being the creator of the 'Grand Gate' and for using it to seal away each plane. The day the planes left us was a jubilant day for the machinations of the scribe after all...
  • The Scribe is the creator of planar magic, an unstable and evil method of magic in which one siphons off the health of other planes to empower their own skills, tainting their soul in the process.
  • The Scribe was formerly married to the executioner Enarys Walker but, upon meeting the dread king; he destroyed her mind and turned her into the executioner.
At the end of the book there is a single spell from the scribe's planar magic school; the spell 'Primordial Curse'.
