The Witch-Trinities of Fjallkonan (V)

Each trinity is made up of 3 witches; the Seer (Volva), the Speaker (Lögsögumaður) and the Hunter (Veiðimaður)

Equipment

The most powerful resource of the Witches is the Raudskinna (Red Skin), a grimoire of powerful magik, coveted by their rivals. Only the lögsögumaður of each trinity is granted access, memorizing the Magik contained within.   The Seer carries a small distaff, upon which she can warp the strings of fate.   The hunter typically is well-armed, carrying swords, axes or bows.

Weaponry

The Trinities are all well trained warriors. They are given access to the mystical forges of Fjallkonan to forge their own weapons, resulting in each Trinity being a unique unit, with individual weapons of great Magikal power.

Vehicles

Each Trinity has a devoted Silver Longship at their disposal, crafts capable of propelling themselves through the clouds as if crossing the sea. Particularly elite units may also have access to Nightmares, which serve as their favored mounts.

Structure

Answering directly and solely to the Witch-Queen Malgven, the Trinities are placed above and outside the clan structure of Fjallkonan and granted full autonomy to carry out orders.   Within a Trinity, the witches are all equals in authority by position, but individual dynamics vary from group.to group. The lögsögumaður is typically the most public facing of the group though.

Tactics

The Witches are skilled practitioners of different forms of magic.   The Seers utilize Seidr, allowing them to see and shape the future. This is often accomplished by taking an astral visionary journey. The Speakers utliize Runic Magic, powerful glyphs that allow them to accomplish impossible feats, like splitting mountains in half. The Hunters utlize Galdr, a sung magic that allows for distant and indirect effects.

Training

The Trinities are the result of countless years of magical training in the Obsidian fortress of Gullfoss Girls with magikal aptitude are taken before Malgven at a young age, and, if impressive enough, allowed to enroll. They are removed from the clan system of Fjallkonan entirely, their family ties severed. Families whose daughters enter training are rewarded with status and wealth, but expected to treat them as strangers from then on.

Logistics

Logistical Support

The Witch Trinitiea are largely autonomous and self-reliant. They are authorized to commandeer longships and their crews, or even entire fleets should the situation merit it, and all clans are expected to support their mission. The Trinities are not to be granted Hospitality, thus freeing them from reciprocal obligations. Instead, they are meant to move unimpeded and unremarked upon, save for by Clan Captains, Clerics and Captains.

History

The Witch Trinities were first employed by Malgven herself for Viking raids from her village. When she ascended to the throne, she began educating others, forming a private guard, culminating in the assassination of her husband, the King and her coronation as the sole ruler of the Magocracy. The Trinities have since grown into a powerful and feared force both within the island nation and Alvez at large.

Historical loyalties

Each Trinity is bound to each other and to Malgven via a powerful ere-hud. They exclusively serve Fjallkonan, but may ally with others against a common enemy.
