Aneathebloom

Aneathebloom are not the rarest of flowers on Amaltheon, but there is not a great deal known about them due to the dangerous nature of searching for them in the Vandorenial Forest. Aneatheblooms are known to possess a powerful spore that it fires towards creatures nearby, almost always sending them into a deep sleep. Usually, this would not be a big problem, but due to the fact that the Vandorenial Forest is dangerous to conscious creatures, many choose not to take this risk. When harvested by professionals, though, the flower can be used for powerful medical tools, such as anaesthetic for potential painful medical procedures, though this usually costs a great deal more due to the skills required to gather the flora.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Aneatheblooms are fairly standard looking flowers, considering their strange defence mechanism. Their thick stems stand at about 8 cm tall and about 5cm wide, and the circumference of the flower bulb barely reaches the same width as the stem. There are sometimes also additional leaf like petals that hang from the stem, but these are thought to act as simple camouflage.

Growth Rate & Stages

Aneatheblooms grow in groups of sprouts that eventually end up resembling a bush of flowers. During this initial sprouting period, hundreds of Aneatheblooms will grow at once and race towards the top, with the losers of this race becoming fertiliser for the rest in their early days. Once they have sprouted, they will stay in full bloom until the end of the year.

Ecology and Habitats

Aneatheblooms are only known to grow in the Vandorenial forest, though there are many flowers in different forests that have attempted to develop similar defence mechanisms, but none are as potent as this. There are many clusters of the flowers known to the druids of Faer Or, though they do not share this information due to the potential for harm to come to the gatherer.

Biological Cycle

It is known that Aneatheblooms begin a new sprout in Rainmoot of each year, though some have been spotted beginning this process as early as the second week of snowmelt. This flower will often survive and thrive up until the first weeks of Snowmoot, when they are usually blanketed in snow and die.
