The Pining

Early in the history of Amaltheon, a strange affliction started to pop up in some Wanderer Souls around Amaltheon, healers would come to call this affliction "The Pining". The first case of The Pining was officially discovered in Dawnbank on the 4th of Highsun 5 PW, having happened to a human male known as Palmer Zilemen, though many state that another man, Krom Tyllak, had shown these symptoms much earlier, though they were never able to run tests on him. Palmer was found in the early hours of the morning screaming in the centre of town about having been lied to and wanting to go home. When confronted by guards, Palmer turned violent and attacked the guards, unfortunately resulting in his death. The affliction would continue to slowly spread for a few years, with a very minor recovery rate until a major outbreak in Fireswane of 10 PW. During this month, many of those afflicted simply gathered their belongings and travelled south, where they established the camp and later the town of Scorchton, in the west of the Rolling Wastes.
