The party arrives at the cart and realises that strange figures, who seem to be followers of Enxa, of Darkened Veil, are attacking and being held off by a single Paladin, later discovered to be Alvea of Firstport. The party dives head first into the fight, but the tide quickly turns as Maeralya is paralysed and has a blade shoved through her throat, immediately causing her to fall unconscious. Alvea loses consciousness next, and as the party rushes to save Maeralya, Alvea is slain by one of the heavily armoured attackers. The party starts taking heavy injuries as they work their way towards the carriage, but unfortunately, it is too late as one of the attackers opens the carriage door and murders those hiding inside. The party manages to recoup and take out the last of the attackers as the fight comes to an end. After taking a very short breather, the party begins to identify bodies, discovering that the two people inside the carriage are Heather and Joshua Calron, a Firstport council member and her husband. As they discuss what to do, Heothun notices that the attackers bodies are slowly beginning to disappear. This leaves the party in a predicament where they need to make it to Firstport still and report the crime, but they feel unable to leave the bodies on their own in case of more attackers or thieves. They decide to split up, with Cameo and Heothun rushing towards Firstport and Juniper, Maeralya, and Ruben guarding over the bodies and the councilwoman's carriage.
