Old Fort Silas

In the times of the violent revolt, old forts and strongholds of the once absolute canidea princedoms were abandoned at their posts on the frontier borders. Old Fort Silas was named after the Shibu general and ranger, Silas, who conquered the old northern forests in the name of his prince, though his name has outlasted his memory.   Situated on a high bluff within the dense forest, Old Fort Silas's outer walls laced with pushy and overgrown evergreens protect it from both pests and unwanted ne'er-do-wells with its height and inconspicuousness. The outer grounds have been converted to farmland with the help of transported fertile forest soil. The fort's portcullis, although almost always open, is difficult to see with its rough dirt and stone piled entrance. It can be closed by one cut of its rope by a quick milita member.   Inside the fort's walls, buildings have been built and carved ramshackle-like out of the stone keep to make room for those who flee canidea rule. Though one 'leader' of sorts try to organize this place; Tep, the sphinx cat. She claims the inner tower and lookout of the keep, which with its winding staircase to up above even the treetops, gives her a good view of the overgrown ballistas and arrowslits upon the wall. There is also no true barrack nor weapon unrusted left from those old fort days. Though, she eases her nagging thoughts of wanderlust and ambition by seeing the new generation that's being raised within this old fort's walls.   The children are vary wildly in family lineage and kin. Yet, they're all raspacillions and merrymakers to some degree, being raised by hopeful downtrodden former refugees for the most part. One strange story that every child knows but no adult can claim heritage of, is the story of the apple-girl and her loving parents.
