Personal history

As a young boy, Touker, along with his seven brothers, joined the family trade of sailing. His Father, Balian, was captain of a merchant vessel which sailed the dangerous seas from the Eastern-kingdoms of the South-Eastern Continent, to the Far Eastern lands, bordering the regions of the Lizard-folk. These voyages were filled with danger and high profits. To defend the ship from pirates and raiders, Touker and his brothers trained every day in the art of ship to ship combat. While his four eldest brothers became highly skilled in the art of Cutlass and buckler, Touker and his two youngest brothers became skilled crossbowmen. Even with the pitch and roll of the ship, Touker's bolts were as deadly as they were precise. On one voyage, The ship came under attack by Lizard-folk reavers. Touker, nineteen at the time, Stood atop the forecastle of the ship, beside his father, while his brothers and the rest of the ships crew stood at the railing, Preparing to repel the Lizard-folk. Amidst the huge, scale-skinned Lizard-folk warriors, Touker spotted one, taller than the others, with huge slavering jaws and an ornate headdress of bright feathers and gold. Taking aim with his crossbow, Touker breathed in, his feet wide apart, steadying himself as the ship rolled gently. As the ship rolled back the other way, Touker pulled the trigger and sent the bolt flying. Almost immediately, the large Lizard-folk dropped dead, the fletching on the bolt all that stuck out from the lizard-folk's skull. The other, smaller lizard-folk panicked then. Some even pulling the rudder and sail ropes to bring their longboat back around. More bolts flew toward the lizard folk, dropping several others before they could bring their thick Hide-shields up. Thanks to Touker's well aimed shot, his father's ship was safe, without any losses on their own vessel. Over the next few years, Trade began to dwindle, and the voyages along the dangerous northern coast of the Eastern continent became less profitable, Touker's father sold his ship, believing he was too old now and wished to spend out the last of his days on dry land in the Kingdom of Yegos. When the Wizard-king of Halmar declared war on the neighbouring Kingdoms, Touker was working onboard a merchant cog, transporting goods between the Eastern-kingdoms and the smaller kingdoms of the northern desert. The cog was hired by the kingdom of Yegos to sail to the Western-kingdoms to bring back arms and armour. Whilst in the kingdom of Lorisham on one such voyage, Touker heard of the fabled Ghost Archipelago from a group of sailors and mercenaries preparing to make the voyage. Their stories of cities of gold, lost islands with beaches of jewels and exotic women excited him. On the return voyage, Touker dreamed of finding his own way to the Ghosts and making his fortune. When the ship returned to Yegos, Touker left the trade cog, and found a ship preparing to sail to the far east, to Port Raleigh, where many ships and their crews were using as a starting point on their voyage to the Ghost Archipelago. On his arrival, it did not take him long to find a ship preparing to set sail for the Ghosts. The 'Tempest' had already made several voyages to the fabled islands, and were in need for more crew. This ship's captain, a fiery-haired heritor by the name of Helga Stormchild, was more than happy to have Touker sign on. He and the other new crewmen hung on the words of the crew, who had already made the journey to the Ghost Archipelago. Their stories were even more fantastical than the ones Touker had heard back in Lorisham.   Those who spoke of the treasures of the Ghost Archipelago had failed to mention how harsh the environment was. His first time on an island had resulted in death for several crewmen, including the Ships captain. The trek across the colossal island had been nearly unbearable. The hot, humid smell of the jungle clung to him, making him sweat unbelievably. Then came the climb up a vast mountain range which ran around the island. There, it was bitterly cold, and the winds threatened to pluck the crew off the barren, rocky slopes. Worse still, was a rival crew had dogged them the whole way. At the peak of the mountain, the two sides had met, and fought. Touker himself had been knocked unconscious. When he had come to, the other crew had fled and his own crew had lost their captain, and a woman, Cheryl Sheppard, he had grown close with on the voyage over. The journey back to the ship was harder than the climb up the mountain. Weakened from the battle Touker nearly collapsed several times. The only thing keeping Touker going was the treasures the crew had found on their journey, and the thoughts of how he would spend his cut when they arrived back at the mainland.
