Elf

Elves are a species derived from the Taladin after the results of the calamity. The Elves are typified by the Taladin that sought gifts from Zamigdral. Elves are underrepresented across Uinsil. This is believed to be a result of events regarding the "Price of Order." After this, elves were uncommonly seen under Aven's Light. The most recent reports of the elves were in regard to the "Fall of Leaves," a conflict between Mashangist within the Dandandekadan Forest. For the most part, Elves are believed to represent bad omens and are rarely found in civilizations.   The elves were those of the Taladin that witnessed her elemental manifestation. Elemental beings, believed to be the pure form of the elements, left the Taladin seeking guidance. Those seeking Zamigdral found her deep in the forest. They pleaded with her for her gifts. Cautious, knowing that the Taladin were made from Shodar, Zamigdral bestowed a seed of power. The elves remained with Zamigdral for generations. While the elves vanished from the eyes of the Taladin, the elves have thrived in their reclusive domains. Their gifts have allowed them to enjoy longevity of trees and to carry on through worlds as a seed upon the winds, reborn to a new life. While elves were numbered among the defenders of Zamigdral’s creations, they gained a discompassion for the savages that worked against her. Their stalwart and timeless nature drew concern from nations and peoples. The elves are the only beings who may have lived long enough to recollect the origins of the races.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Elves are similar in appearance to Taladin, standing upright. They are discriminated from the Taladin by the presence of pointed ears and iridescent eyes.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Elves require consumption of soft grade food. This includes products predominantly composed of fire, water, and air. Geometric foods have been known to break down and release small amounts of sustainment, though not in any meaningful value. Unlike Taladin, Elves receive most of their nourishment from naturally occurring substances, including fruits, bulbs/blossoms, and waste. Those that inhabit cultural centers, as distinct from the elves of the wood, are known to eat the common food.

Biological Cycle

Elves are brought to viability within the carriers of the species, similar to the Taladin. Within the circles of elves, it is the female that bears the child, as is the accepted, cultural practice. This is aligns with the principles that Zamigdral carries a female figure. Though, similar to the Taladin, children may carried by the males. The child remains within the carrier until the essence has completed forming the parallel, after which birth occurs. The child continues to consume and grow, reaching the final stature of the sovereign after approximately 160 seasons, with variance around 4 seasons. This is noted as a significant deviation from the Taladin. From this point, the Elves exhibit variable growth according to experiences that influence the sovereign, such as musculature formation, throughout remaining life of the Elf. Eventually, deterioration of the body occurs which results in embrittlement of the structure, reduction of mental capacity, and discoloration. When the Taladin can no longer support the body structure, the body passes in rapid decomposition.
