Eolithic Tide

An Eolithic tide is an event that results from the accumulation of essence of a particular type. generally speaking, elements requires a catalyst made of essence to manifest in a physical, tangible form. The dangers of an eolithic tide is that the environment becomes saturated with an element that may spontaneously manifest from latent essence in the air. For example, an eolithic tide of fire elements may result in spontaneous combustion, discoloration in flames, embers appearing from thin air, etc. an Eolithic tide of water may result in tempestuous storms, waterspouts, or the sudden appearance of geysers. The onset of an eolithic tide can generally be felt on a certain level, though certain devices such as an Essence Condenser will provide better indications of their presence.

Manifestation

Eolithic tides are typically identified by subtle changes in the environment that may be easy to miss if not careful. In many cases, eolithic tides amplify the behavior of certain effects, such as the heat at which fire burns or spreads, rain that manages to keep from falling, or rocks that reform when once broken. For many living creatures, eolithic tides often do not influence the body enough to be noticed. But on environmental macroscales, these tides can have startling effects. Learned scholars tend to recommend sheltering in any unexplicable event as anything one might do may breed something far worse.   Eolithic tides were once believed to be conflicts between the elements. This was reasoned to explain the amplified presence of certain elements and the reduction in the behavior of other elements. However, this has never been proven.

Localization

To determine whether an eolithic tide is present or imminent, one of the items that may commonly be used is called an Essence Condenser. In general, the free elements are random enough to not trigger an essence condenser. However, as free essence grows, the essence condenser experiences preferential congruence that indicates the type of eolithic tide that is beginning. While this device is not precise in timing or direction, it is valuable for strategists and arcanists that rely on understanding the variables that may affect them.
