House Lord

House Lords serve at the pleasure of the Judge of the House of the Lords. The House Lord is the first officiant in the adminstration of a particular house. Within the body of the House of the Lords, each house is often tasked with maintaining a certain part of Mashangist. These might include the defense of Mashangist, the management of trade, or the study of the arcane. With the destruction of Mashangist, many of the lords that served the King would be given divided power. Thus, the prestige of being a house lord is often desired.   This privilege is often purchased in the city by petitioning the House itself where the case is made to the Judge. In general, the judge determines whether the house that is petitioning can support Mashangist, honor their traditions, and ensure their security. Once the petition has been accepted, the House Lord is given a stipend from the income of the state. Thus, the petitioner must demonstrate that the objective that they wish to manage is worth the expense. An errant house risks the forfeiture of their assets and dismissal from the House of the Lords.
