Kasariendens Attempt
Kasariendens Attempt is one of the largest military campaigns in history between Gamjuit and the tribes of the Ka'ada'gok. While the Gamjuven people had not traditionally settled west of the territory that would be claimed as Mej di'mej, this campaign came as a geopolitical shock to the region. This is due to the belief that the vast northern territory beyond Saddaqom offered enough room for new settlements without the need for conflict.
It became known that Kasarienden, one of the military leaders of Gamjuit, perceived the establishment of a commune for the tribes of the Bloodplains as a threat and challenge. The summit of Mej di'mej had drifted through conversations between regional merchants in Luam Cathwa. Eventually, those same stories would reach Saddaqom. The rise of the hordes, as it would seem, revived stories of the Gamjuven tribes origins in the Gamju. As word brought further hated, Kasariendan rose to prominance as one of the greatest advocates for war.
When Kasarienden put together an army, it could more reasonably be described as marauders. The disorganization and brutality of the war demonstrated the aggression and thirst of the Gamjuven people. The traditions that centered on martial principles came to the forefront as a large militia was drawn across the dual kingdom. Number nearly one-hundred thousand equipped with crude weapons, these were by no means unexperienced warriors.
One of the driving factors for Kasariendan to move on Mej di'mej was to break the union between the beastmen tribes that was taking place. The establishment of a shared language, known outside of the Ka'ada'gok (Bloodplains) as undercommon, could unite the tribes to further raids eastward. However, Kasariendan was unaware that the summit at Mej di'mej was the beginning of an enlightenment for the beastmen tribes. The attempt by Kasarienden to stop the union of the tribes of the Bloodplains was punctuated by the annexation of Mej di'mej and the construction of a coliseum on the tribal commune. This stunting of the social growth of the beastmen tribes would result in a seeded hatred for the descendents of the Taladin that would last centuries.
The conflict itself involved a decisive thrust into Mej di'mej. The unprovoked attack caught the settlers completely unaware. As many were unarmed, the slaughter was most uncontested. With Kasariendan taking control of the summit overlooking the basin to the west, his army spilled into the historically dangerous territory of the Ka'ada'gok. One Facet of the conflict that catches attention is the presence of a great Eolithic Tide. Fiery torrents blazed in places where water had run. Conflicts started and stalled as elementals clashed before the armies. The ground itself was torn to pieces by fiery cleavers which continued to reshape the battleground. With no foothold to take, Kasarienden could not continue his onslaught on the wounded tribes.
As the Eolithic tide closed, the tribes of the Ka'ada'gok could not again gather together. Departing for tribal lands, the scarred ground would remember the wounds. Shifting rivers would innundate warriors suddenly, resulting in flooded swaths of land. The close of the conflict, following a retreat by the beastmen tribes from the scattered Gamjuven army, was the tragic result of a two-sided coin.
In total, nearly fifty thousand beastmen fell. This compared with the thirty five thousand of the Gamjuven. The difference in numbers was attributed to the initial slaughter in Mej di'mej which was unable to be reciprocated. However, the tribes in the open fields were mostly matched one for one to the barbarians of Gamjuit, with many of the Gamjuven perishing from the elementals.
