Prison of Mirrors
Located within the ruins of Haralon, the Prison of Mirrors was constructed during the first Patriarchy. It is said the First Patriarch of Haralon, Zagros, constructed the Prison of Mirrors to contain the enemies of Haralon. While the extent of the Prison of Mirrors is unknown, it is believed to extend several hundred feet under Haralon. The only people said to have entered and exited the Prison are the Haralonian Archmages and their aides.
The Prison of Mirrors contains several hundred mirrors that stand approximately ten feet in height and three feet in width. The mirrors are stored in rooms of around eight with the rooms measuring thirty feet wide by thirty feet deep with domed ceilings, the height of which reaches fifteen feet. Between the rooms are walkways that are approximately five feet in width. There are no lights in the Prison of Mirrors, as the Archmages would supply their own light during their travels. While tens of the mirrors seem relatively mundane, a majority of the mirrors are framed with intricate designs that appear to move and change over time. The careful observer will note that the decoration of the frame is directly related to the essence of the individual trapped within the mirror.
"Reflection is the gateway to agony."
The archmages designed the prison of mirrors such that the individuals within would be preserved until the archmages could further their interrogation. In many cases, however, the archmages would simply leave the prisoners within the mirrors and construct new ones should the needed mirrors not be available.
There are three ways to interact with the mirror. First, the individual may approach an empty mirror. Upon doing so, the individual will feel the drawing sensation of the mirror. When the individual appraises their reflection, the mirror will capture the person with a pocket of the realm of agony, where it is said that Tala mourns and Osgolip reigns. Within this realm, the essence of the individual is preserved and their body doesn't degrade as on Samagri. The second interaction involves an individual who finds an occupied mirror. Upon locking eyes with the individual in the mirror, a contest of wills occurs. In this, the individual will find that they may have taken the place of the other. Finally, the individual may ask the warden of the prison for the individual. The warden will then cause the portal of the mirror to open and releasing the one inside.
The Warden:
The presence of the warden in the Prison of Mirrors was only known to the archmages of Haralon. He is a being whose body transcends planes and appears when called. He is tasked with guarding the prison and protecting the archmages from any threats that may otherwise enter the prison. He has the appearance of a skeletal creature, though his body is not skeletal. The bones are actually the shape that the essence used to create him has taken. His head appears to be covered with a shimmering toque. His body draped in the worn robes of Haralon.
When Haralon devised a prison for the enemies of Haralon, Zagros sought to a way to bring lasting pain. Together the archmages derived the equations to forge a bridge to the plane of agony. To keep the prisoners bound, they used mirrors. The mirrors would provide a means of transporting the prisoners to the plane of agony while binding them to the mirror itself.
