Reaper Engine

The Reaper Engine is one of the most notorious devices of the War of Secar. Developed with the technology of the Nostarian, the Reaper Engine is a vehicle specifically designed to contest the overwhelming power of the magewrights of Isfa. While Mashangist had superior understand of magecraft, the lack of preparedness of their military or conscripts to fight on such a scale was limited. The Reaper Engine instead leveraged the harvesting of living essence using a specialized cannon that was able to sap the lifeforce from its targets. The sweeping blasts would not only destroy the body of the target, but also convert the parallel into essence that was used to power the engine.   This terrifying device was introduced near to the close of the war as desperation began to increase. House Dar'den took the technology of the Nostarian and advancements in machinery to create this metal war machine. The ministers of war from House Dar'den claimed that it was the final decision of the war: Either use the Reaper Engine or be defeated. While the use of the Reaper Engine slowed the conclusion of the war, Isfa was able to overpower them. The engine alone was insufficient to alter the course of battle. This is due to the fact that lines of the war were too spread out.   The introduction of the Reaper engine on the battlefield brought fury to the Isfan military. As the Nostarian was the reason for the war, the introduction of a vehicle whose primary purpose was war furthered the caused. Socially, the Reaper engine was viewed as the harbinger of death. The Mashangisti population saw the introduction of the device as evidence of the tragedy that had come to their kingdom. While the drivers of the devices were selected for their loyalty to the ministers of defense, their was still sentiment that the drivers must have been heartless to be willing to pilot such a creation. This vehicle alone served to convince the population that Mashangist was as fault for the war.
