Reformation of Mashangist

After the collaspe of Mashangist from the armies of Isfa, the horrific weapons they had devised had all but been destroyed. The walls and most of the city was left in rubble. The Champion-King Illiam Castell strode over the rubble that had been the long-believed impenetrable castle. There, the hand of the king sat trembling as hundreds of thousands of his countrymen had been slain. In the stillness, at a table specially prepared for this moment, the king was forced to write by his own hand.   "I, King Hattic Condign of Mashangist and the governed regions under my domain, hereby acknowledge our defeat. With profound humility and steadfast dedication to the well-being of the people of Mashangist, I declare our unconditional surrender.   I recognize the grave responsibility that has been placed before our people. Mashangist, as it has been known since the days of my father and his father before him, will commit to a comprehensive reformation of government. Let this be a testament to our resolve to rise from the ashes of our mistakes and to remedy that which was harmed. We seek not only to heal our nation, but also to seek a path of redemption.   To this end, Mashangist will enter into a period of magistry and the people will take responsibility for their actions and the actions of others. To organize this, I introduce the Council of Lords to meet within a House of Lords.   Let it be known here and forever that the people of Mashangist have committed gross atrocities for which redemption may never be achieved, here or in worlds to come. It is within the capacity of our people, who have previously harness technology of ancient peoples, to raise above our hubris and declare ourselves humbled. We must not only rebuild our homes, our families, and our lives, but also the faith of the world in of our commitment to change."   This document was the first of several hundred pages of articles of reformation signed by both Hallic Condign of Mashangist and Illiam Castell of Isfa.
