Sorko Sarcanci

Sorko Sarcanci is a settlement that lies within the Ka'ada'gok (i.e. the Bloodplains). Sorko Sarcanci boasts a thriving economy and rich cultural history. Set against the flowing waters of River Ris and sheltered by dense desiduous forests, Sorko Sarcanci has access to a vast array of resources.   Sorko Sarcanci was first settled by the Ush, Children of Shuna that had been shunned by those in Luam Cathwa. As the Ush were pushed from the deltas of Luam Cathwa by the Luamani, the Ush found a place within the forests where fruits were plentiful.   As Sorko Sarcanci lies in the heart of the bloodplains, titanic beasts wander freely. In time, the Ush learned to tame these creatures and shared the burdens with them. And the Ush were friends to these creatures. The tribes that would visit Sorko Sarcanci would marvel at the stature of these beasts. For the people of Sorko Sarcanci, these creatures would be companions.   "These beasts wore crowns of daggers. Some had necks that reached the tops of the trees. Others who ran as fast as shadows."   Currently, Sorko Sarcanci has a population of nearly 7,000 Ush. Established as a collection of smaller groups connected by distant roads, Sorko Sancanci covers a wide area. These smaller groups generally number between two-hundred and three-hundred people. Thus, Sorko-Sarcanci is made up of approximately thirty collectives that feed into the main center.

Government

The government of Sorko Sarcanci is a chiefdom where a central chief presides over the many tribes. Each tribe is led by elders that report to the chief. Within each tribe, there are nobles who carry privileges.

Defences

The people of Sorko Sarcanci are all trained as warriors and carry weapons at all times. From young ages, the Ush are taught to wield weapons and skirmish in the forests. During tribal wars that have raged through the Bloodplains in the past, Sorko Sarcanci has been a considerable threat. With their titanic guard, adversaries to the village struggle to gain any advantage.

Industry & Trade

Sorko Sarcanci is a self-sufficient tribe where trade is large conducted internally. While Sorko Sarcanci has been secluded from many tribes and exiled from many others, the chiefdom has continued to steadily grow. Stores of rich minerals have been discovered and blacksmiths have begun to forge armors and weapons. As a result, fewer of the Ush have perished and the population continues to climb.

Infrastructure

Sorko Sarcanci has structures that are predominantly composed of wood. These structure are built on platforms, noting that in times of heavy rain the rivers may flood. Between each of the buildings within each tribe are bridges suspended by ropes. While electricity and other forms of arcane illumination have not made a presence in Sorko Sarcanci, the tribes are illuminated by large orb lanterns. The Ush tribes indulge in extensive crop and irrigation systems. Many mills were constructed to grind the crops to make variety of flours and sugars. This supports largely vegetarian diets with meats being luxuries generally reserved for their beasts of burden.

History

When the Ush were push from Luam Cathwa, they were hounded by the tribes of the Bloodplains. Their population decreased from nearly four-hundred to one-hundred and fifty. The tired and worn people found themselves feasting on the pure waters of a strong river. For days, the people rested. The chief among them proclaimed that their fate was near and like the river, they would be strong. The people cut the woods and built shelters.   During the first seasons when the Ush settled in the land that would become Sorko Sarcanci, they were startled to find large creatures that roamed. These terrifying lizards ignited the fear within the Ush, but the chief knew that they would not run. The chief had the people harvest the fruits and honey from the trees. When the creatures would come, the people would offer the food. As the visits grew more frequent, the Ush built trust with the creatures. The Ush would devise ways to tame the creatures and to perform labors. And while the Ush were not industrious, they were able to make Sorko Sarcanci a restful place.   But as Sorko Sarcanci settled and grew, war erupted across the Bloodplains. The Shunarite tribes drew weapons against one another, stirred to competition. Gnolls of the Craduilin moved eastward, skirmishing with the Orc territories. These conflicts spilled toward Sorko Sarcanci. When the Gnolls entered into the forest, they burned the tribal outposts. The people of Sorko Sarcanci rode atop their dinosaur companions. And as the Gnolls charged through the woods, they watched as trees were snapped. The Ush charged and crushed the gnolls under them. Suffering a devastating loss, the Gnolls fled from the woods and retreated back towards the Craduilin. The orcs, tracking their movements, also invaded the territories of the Sorko Sarcanci. And unlike the barbarians that were the Gnolls, the orcs were fiercesome. But they also fled from before the massive mounts. And hundreds of orcs were smashed under their feet. Thus, Sorko Sarcanci would be known as a cursed wood where murderous demons lurk.   It would be years before visitors would dare to enter the territories around Sorko Sarcanci. During this restful period, the population had nearly doubled. The Ush had begun to stretch themselves across the river, building fishing vessels and making journeys north to the end of the river. There, the fishermen would meet peaceful tribes of Shunarites. Brokering trade for the luscious fruits and flours that the Ush had begun to cultivate, the Ush began to learn new trades.   While Sorko Sarcanci begun trading with peoples throughout the Bloodplains, including the Orcs that had once invaded their territory. As the Ush grew, many of the fears they once bore had been swept away, along with the superstitions that had once plagued them. Thus, the roads to Sorko Sarcanci were open. But within the tribes of Sorko Sarcanci, the Ush prevail. While visitors come and go, no other tribes inhabit the nearby areas.
