Words of Bonding

While mostly known for their presence in religious ceremonies, the Words of Bonding has a far more primal origin. Due to the nature of the creation, Words of Bonding is the application of one of the laws of nature. In this law, the release of essence may be provided by one person to another. For this purpose, it is generally known as curative or even sacrificial. Priests and clerics of different nations all understand the principle of this device in their rituals. Among these rituals is the offering.
The offering is a special application of the Words of Bonding where supplicants frequently offer up their vitality to thank one of the Heirs for the blessings that they provide. While it is infrequent for supplicants to perish during this ritual, it is not impossible. When supplicants enter a trance during the words of bonding, the connection made between the supplicant and the applicant can result in the living essence (the essence required to sustain a temporal existence) to reach the point where it is unable to be maintained. In these cases, it is believed that the supplicant has been taken by the applicant to serve in the realms beyond. However, this myth, known as the Gracia Libra, has never been proven. Though, this belief is maintained by those who believe that there is no greater honor than to offer up all that one is for the Heirs above.
The Words of Bonding are one of the greatest tools of the Heirs to increase their essence. By gaining supplicants, the Heirs are able to increase themselves and protect themselves from harm. While the Heirs are beyond human comprehension, they are bound by the same laws as all living things. That is, they are beings of essence that may be similarly consumed and destroyed. Therefore, the Words of Bonding play a significant role where the Heirs are active in their pursuits to acquire essence, equally bestowing gifts upon their most diligent and useful supplicants.
