Zagros

Zagros is accepted as the first patriarch of Haralon. He was born to Anlienisse and Aerenn. When he was conceived, Anlienisse said that Zagros would fulfill Tala's desires. The deaths of his parents before he was born would instill within Zagros a deep distance. While the prophesy that Anlienisse offered was assumed to imply that Zagros would unite the people, the world would learn that Zagros would bring pain and suffering to those that left Tala.

Personal history

Zagros was conceived by Anlienisse with the help of her companion, Aerenn. During this conception, Aerenn was promised that Zagros would "Fulfill the desires of Tala." When Anlienisse passed immediately after the conception, Zagros could feel that his mother had departed. This caused him great pain, believing the world to be a cruel place. Zagros would remain in the gestational period for the better half of a century.   During this time, the city of Haralon was founded. Haralon was said to be the "City of the Children". It is claimed that Haralon was the place closest to where Tala first raised a child and touched the Gem of Power. The story of the promised child spread throughout the nearby kingdoms. For decades, visitors would settle in Haralon and the surrounding territories. The economy flourished and many gifts were brought to Zagros.   Near to the time of Aerenn's death, Zagros could feel that she was fading. He would later say, "I could feel the warm of my mother fade. In my grief of losing my first mother, I sacrificed my second." Aerenn would pass without giving birth to Zagros. However, as the body crumbled around Aerenn, Zagros emerged.   During Zagros' early years, he heard voices circling around him. Without thinking, he would repeat the words and the feelings. The ancient phenomenon is called sorcery. Zagros speak words of power that would devastate those around him. Attendants would follow Zagros, capturing his every word. Recording the words of the incantations or spells, the attendants would be able to repeat the phenomena. This would be the start of the great arcane history of Haralon.   Shortly in his youth, Zagros longed for affection and could not gain any. He perceived adoration as empty and words as false. In reality, Zagros simply wanted his mothers. In his pain, Zagros would declare Haralon a patriarchy were he would be the first patriarch. He declared, "Man suffers tragedy as those before us leave is behind. This is a natural order. But there are those who choose to leave us behind. That is evility. And evility deserves recompense. Our gifts have been robbed, I will proctor justice."   Those words quickly reached fledgling kingdoms in the surrounding areas: Isfa and Mashangist. Zagros would spend years growing his military. Zagros was often angered at the passiveness of his people that did not want war. His people still believed tha Zagros would unite all peoples together. Zagros would seize on this, further expanding on his rhetoric. He would claim that the armies would dissolve borders and share Tala's love for them. But Zagros had heard the words of Agony. Tala could no longer love those that abandoned her. Zagros would fulfill Tala's hatred.   When the first armies were gathered, Zagros marched Westward toward Mashangist. But the king of Mashangist welcomed Zagros into the kingdom and praised Tala. Zagros' army would not fight against a pacified people. Then Zagros would march on Isfa. As Zagros' armies entered into the Cunab Basin, they were met by the clergy of Isfa, including Illiam Castell. Together, they welcomed Tala into the basin and praised Tala. As Zagro's armies delighted in the welcome and seeing the great works of the people, they would not fight.   Zagros returned to Haralon victorious and his campaigns were celebrated. But Zagros returned to his throne. His rage grew, but there were those around him that loved Zagros. Zagros would teach these apprentices words of dread. And Zagros sent out his apprentices. And they would gather an army fit for Zagros. Then, Zagros stole away from Haralon to venture West toward Mashangist. When he arrived at a small village, he ordered his followers to prove themselves and destroy the village. Zagros listened to the cries, the ones that he heard in his mind from Tala. He continued his march to the west. Several settlements were destroyed.   When Zagros arrived in Mashangist, he was met with his secret desire. The army of Mashangist was prepared for war. Zagros would unleash devastation on Mashangist over the course of a few days. As Mashangist reeled from the blows, the armies of Isfa appeared behind Zagros. Zagros was pushed further west and fled into the Folding Ruin. As Illiam Castell attempted a pursuit, darkness closed the vale of the Folding Ruin.   As Zagros fled into the Folding Ruin, he came across a citadel that he called Yekesdi. There, the Bar-asti would gain his favor. Zagros would swear retribution. But as his body began to wither, so did his power. He ventured to the seal that closed the plane of Agony and set upon it his emblem. Within it, he sealed himself. There, he would await the power to return. There, Zagros remains, stealing the essence from the Plane of Agony.
