Zeleny Fields

Zeleny Fields is the location of a devastating battle between Lord Damrin of Haralon and the legion of Isfa. During the time in which Lord Damrin had provoked his people into rebellion, the village of Zeleny became a protectorate of Isfa. During the events of the conflict, the landscape was changed in a shockingly unique way.

Geography

Located beyond Bestir's Follow and the mountain ranges that lead into the great plains of Haralon, Damrin's Descent became the name of this territory. This is due to the letter that was given to the Champion-King Illiam Castell by the people of Zeleny who sought his protection. The rocky terrain gave way to many mines that were used to harvest stone and other minerals. The soil supported farming, though the frequency of rocks required attention. Small rivers from the mountains provided sufficient freshwater farming, though wells also yielded drinkable water. Zeleny failed to grow due to many of the challenges it faced in procuring food. Largely in part due to the terrain, but also due to the governance by Lord Damrin.

Ecosystem

While once plentiful in wild game such as elk, deer, and other animals, the difficulty in farming and need resulted in overhunting. Quickly, the abundance turned into a deficit. Without the grazing animals, the surrounding land became untamed. The soil lost its fertility and many of the plants withered away. This would periodically change due to landslides caused by the erosion of the hill regions and the heavy rains occuring high in the mountains nearby. This provide new soil in which vegetation would florish. However, the cycle would repeat and few opportunities for hunting would reemerge.

Localized Phenomena

After "Damrin's Descent," Zeleny Fields became a barren and destroyed land. While essence largely tends to dissipate after being ordered by a sovereign, it generally deteriorates back into chaos. This process releases the essence, settling for plants to soak in the residual. However, the events of "Damrin's Descent" has caused the essence to enter a cyclical flow. The essence attains a design conceived by a sovereign that had existed years ago at that very point. It is driven to a goal, contorting to some design. Upon completion of that design, another origin is fed. This leads to another effect. Perpetuating without an obvious end, the shouts, cries, and lives of the people are laid clear to the senses. Only the life that the essence preserves in this cyclic fate remains. The events and story are captured in Foibel's Echo.
