The Tablet of R'uuna
The tablet of R'uuna hasn't been seen in many years, but stories of its immense power have tempted weizards and mages for centuries. It is said that anyone who touches it is imbued with the magic of long-dead wizard Shameika Portent. Rumours say it rests in the heart of the Wandering Woods, but all who have sought it have gone missing or returned with no memory of ever visiting the woods.
Summary
It glows red and is super cool.
Historical Basis
Imbued with the power of Shameika Portent, the stone has strong magic of the divination school, and is rumoured to be a phylactery or home for the lich of Shameika. However, this has not been confirmed or disproven. Many mages have theorised that if such an item does exist, an incredibly powerful wizard would be the only one able to physically touch it and survive. This has lead to many upstarts trying to prove themselves by finding and touching the stone, however they all either disappear or have amnesia afterwards.
Spread
The myth of the tablet has spread within the walls of the Towers for many generations, but is treated more as fantasy than fact.
Variations & Mutation
Some say the tablet will destroy anyone who touches it, others say it is simply a rock with some words on it and holds no real power. Some even argue that it's actually a phylactery for the lich of Shameika, and she is actively cursing and killing those who seek it and stealing their life :).
Cultural Reception
Having fascinated many mages hungry for more power or simply curious as to the potential of such an item existing, this legend and its consequences for those who seek it are often used as a warning for mages about the potential dangers of tampering with forces you don't understand.
