Explosives

The planar medium absorbs the sudden energy release of explosive combustion severely dampening it. When using gunpowder, its infused Corrupt Fire (Explosion) element allows it to somewhat overcome this based on the quantity of gunpowder. This creates a critical mass beyond which an explosive is capable of producing practical explosive power. Its critical mass makes anything small enough to be held not have enough strength to successfully fire, however once you get to size of a mounted cannon you have neared the critical mass and can fire more or less normally.
