False Flag Attack in T'm'gond

A 7th level Wizard in the employ of the Monotet Family used Illusory Creature to create the image of an Ancient Silver Dragon (imitating the dragon that had been seen previously associated with the Tribe of The Dragon Queen), and used magic to burn down the shanty town at the edge of T'm'gond.
  • The Monotet family did this to incite the Silver Blade mercenaries to go on the hunt for the Tribe and to slaughter them.
  • Ravi finds Arunika and tells her how he has spent the last weeks on a contract to hunt down a stolen caravan of food. His hunt lead him to find the Tribe of the Dragon Queen, and he has been hiding out and observing them for some time now. He has not seen the Dragon Queen, but he recognizes that the attack in T'm'gond does not resemble what he has seen of their behavior. From what he could tell, the Tribe's raiders stopped caravans, made threats, but never went beyond bruises in terms of injury inflicted.
  • If the players attempt to bring the Monotet family to justice, they may incite a war between the Monotets and the Lenshans, which may be more destructive than the alternative
  • If the players bring the Wizard to justice, he will be tried fairly.

    Components

    Goals

Protect the innocent, seek a reward for the Dragon Queen

    Hooks

    • Ravi finds Arunika and explains his suspicions.
    • Silver Dragons do not breathe fire... The Dragon could not have been the source of the flames.
    • There is a sigil burned into the sand in the Shanty Town, indicating teleportation to a specific location.
    • The Council must hear from a representative of the Tribe of the Dragon Queen directly.
    • The people of T'm'gond will demand war even if the Dragon attack was false, as they've been riled up.

    Moral Quandaries

If the party prove that it was the Monotets who were responsible for the attack, then the Lenshan house will declare war on the Monotet house. If the party doesn't, the Lenshan will declare war on the Tribe of the Dragon Queen. The Monotet house supply all of the metals for the region, and war with them will disrupt the entire area.
