Alosrin Nenrie
A strange Alfar student at Ioth Academy, Alosrin is not particularly adept at making friends. He comments on everything he sees, bores instantaneously, and seems to have no filter between his brain and his mouth. Apparently he's an accomplished student (according to himself, at least--none of the other students have checked his grades). Aside from being one year older than Arianna, Athalor, Garnet and Mason, he's traveled with Inril Untermauler to the Andarud and Lasair refuges on some sort of diplomatic mission.

Personal history
Alosrin is a child of Estalar Nenrie, the Enchanter King of the refuge. His mother is one of Estalar's mysterious and anonymous partners, as is the custom of the people of Nenrie. Raised since birth in the magnificent palace over the sparkling lake, Alosrin has benefitted from a rigorous and disciplined education all his life. Multiple tutors, access to a massive library, opportunities to interview Nenrie's "Guests" from far-off lands--no expense was spared. For as long as he can remember Alosrin knew that he'd be studying at Ioth Academy once he came of age--he had the talent and knowledge, obviously, but Estalar his father had some sort of arrangement with Ioth himself. The details never made their way to Alosrin's ear--any time he asked, he was told to focus on his studies to ensure that he would excel and surpass all expectations once he arrived.
Near the end of Alosrin's first decade, a strange visitor arrived in Nenrie. Estalar told his son that this was a member of the most important family in Andarud, here on royal business. Alosrin wanted to meet this exciting new person but Estalar firmly told him not only was he not allowed in, but he was to tell nobody of this meeting. Estalar sequestered himself in the royal chambers, magically sealed against scrying and eavesdropping young Alfar. A dissapointed Alosrin went to his own chambers to trance. His memories and visions that night were strange, filled with twisting shapes and empty pits. He arose curiously hungry and with a coppery taste in his mouth, and learned the stranger was gone already.
When Alosrin finally reached the age of attendance, Estalar himself traveled via Teleportation Circle to the academy to bring his son, though he did so in disguise. Long hours he spent in Ioth's offices, at the very height of the spire, leaving Alosrin to stay in the custody of Inril Untermauler, who was attending to the rest of Estalar's diplomatic entourage. If there was any tension in the room, Alosrin did not notice it--he was too busy asking the minotaur about battle magic, about the mountains of Gortuluth to the far north where the Minotaurs dwell, about his rings and scars and horns and a thousand other questions.
At last Estalar emerged. Though Alosrin hadn't seen Ioth personally, his father the Enchanter King assured him that they'd spoken for a long time about Alosrin's education and eventual destiny. With his red robes prepared, Alosrin wished his father farewell before beginning his studies.
Near the end of his first year at the academy, Inril Untermauler summoned Alosrin. Instead of completing his final exams, he was to join a diplomatic mission to the four great Alfar refuges of Girru. His father specifically requested he join so he could see more of the world and meet with important teachers and figures from the four refuges, and the academy agreed to his request--apparently backed by the authority of Ioth himself.
Alosrin thrived as he made his way from Nuldamire to Lasair to Andarud--but not Nenrie. He met interesting people and learned from the mages of each place, studying crystalline magic in Nuldamire, abjuration in Andarud (where he received a gift of an Andarud dagger from Hadurai Andarud himself, calling him a nephew in all but blood), but drifting off in distractions upon reaching Lasair. He'd missed an opportunity to speak with the legendary Sage, and had home on his mind. After a run in with a strange human girl in a garden of fiery flowers, he was rounded up and brought back to the Academy.
As he began his second year, doing his best to share his "vast knowledge" with the class behind him, Alosrin was no less ignorant of his father's agreement with Ioth, nor did he have the slightest inkling of what was yet to befall...
