War between Dragon Cults and Priest Kings destroys the city of Ioth

The legends are vague, for the destruction was so severe, but what is known is that the Dragon Cults and Priest Kings of the surrounding lands waged war on each other. Ioth’s city was caught in the middle. Even his mighty spells could not hold back the raw power of the human sorcerers as it shattered against the prayers and chants of the Priest Kings.   All the land was laid to waste. Ioth was destroyed, and in its destruction an awful curse rippled out from the shattered ley lines. The land was killed for thousands of miles, turning the once fertile land into an uninhabitable desert.   It is said that the great archmage Ioth himself turned his back on humanity forever, withdrawing to be with his people in what remains of the Dawn World. Others say that Ioth was destroyed in the cataclysm and cursed by the gods for allowing the land to be despoiled.
