Burford

Burford is a small halfling village a few miles from Salines on the south coast of the The High Kingdom. It has a ford across the river Burre, and is surrounded by communal fields and sheepfolds.

Demographics

The population of the village is entirely halfling except for one human family.

Government

The village elects a headman every year.  No one is quite sure why, since Tobias Rednose has been elected every year for the last 33 years.  No one is quite sure what the role of the headman is, although Tobias makes sure that the stockade is in good repair, and that all the various festivals are well observed.

Infrastructure

The main focus of the village is the Roebuck tavern, which brews a fine ale, and makes the best pies in all of Bur Riding.  It also serves as the village bakery and a general store for travellers, as well as offering a couple of rooms if required for those on their way to parts further west.
